| goneshopping's Full Review: Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Detergent |
After reading some reviews on this stuff I was at the supermarket and needed dish soap so I bought the Citrus Kick.
This stuff works absolutely wonderful.
HOW DOES IT LOOK- I'm the type of person that does not like all kinds of soaps displayed on my kitchen sink or cluttering my cubard. So it was nice to remove my hand soap and dish soap for just this bottle. It's much more attractive and smaller than the dish soap I had up. Only I wish it didn't need to be in the bottle it comes in because my hand soap was in a container that matches my kitchen, I would like to have filled the decorative bottle wth this. Aside from that I have no complaints.
The soap itself can be seen through the bottle and appears to be like regular dishsoap but when you pump it out it comes out as foam. About the size of a dollar piece. I could have gotten away with only one pump had my sink been filled with regular dishes but I had pans, it took three. But the bottle says 250 pumps so it should last a while.
I always put my dishes in the dishwasher and hand wash what doesn't fit. Putting only a little bit of water and a lot of soap. So I can rinse the dish, letting the clean water run back into the sink of dirty dishes. (Something my grandpa who lived during the depression instilled in me)
So when the bottle says to use minimal water while washing and rinse normally this is PERFECT for me.
HOW DOES IT WORK- I filled my sink only a quarter of the way and pumped one squirt onto the dishcloth. It got nice and foamy and easily cleaned all my plates and cups. When I sat the dishcloth down to go get the pans I noticed the cloth wasn't foamy anymore. But as soon as I squezed it, it foamed right back up. I washed my stainless steel pans and noticed how shiny they were after? I thought maybe it was a fluke and went on. I had cooked some fried pork chops the night before on my cast iron pans so they really needed to get a light cleaning from sitting dirty. (I know cast iron lovers but sometimes you gotta clean them)
I rinsed the pan off then with my hand lightly spread some foam around the inside of the pan. WOW, that was all it took. The rest of the grease rinsed off with the second rinse and the pan was clean with a wipe of a paper napkin.
I was really liking how this stuff was working by then but it gets better. I let the water go in the sink and noticed how the stainless steel sink shined and sparkled, only the side of the sink that had the dish soap in it. The other side now looked dirty compared to the Dawn side. It was cleaned with Palmolive earlier and wasn't used while I was washing dishes. Guess it wasn't just a fluke, this stuff is great.
When I went to wipe my stove down it worked just as good. I have a stove where the burners sit on glass and the background is white. I can really see any little residue or spot if it isn't clean. There wasn't anything left behind. It even got up a brown streak left from hot grease that usually I have to scrub off. All I had to do was wipe and rub here or there.
LASTING IMPRESSION- I love this stuff and will stick with it. It is a bit drying on my hands though. After just one use my hands felt tight from not putting lotion on after. Maybe what sucked up the grease sucked up oils from my skin :)
I don't know what makes this stuff work so great, maybe cause it's a foam? I don't know but it works.
What the picture doesn't show:
*Nothing, it's pretty much what you see.
What's not listed on details and price:
*Price was $3.39(and well worth it).
*the active ingredient is Triclosan 0.10%(for those who like ingredients listed)
*There is actually an expiration date. Why? But I can't see taking a year to use this stuff up. Only I would be sure not to refill until completely empty.
*SD Alcohol is the 6th inactive ingredient so technically it shouldn't be any harsher than the hand sanitizers that are used without water.
* There are no phosphates and the soap contains biodegradable anionic and nonanionic surfactants and solvents. (listed for those who purchase soaps concerned with what the soap does once it is rinsed down the drain)
