The Bottom Line You have to find out what is right for you before you can buy a cook book.

Buying the best cook book for your home is really easy if you think about it. First think about your personal needs. Are you diabetic? Do you have high cholesterol? Or are you in love with baking? Is your time rather limited? Ok you think about that for a moment.

HEALTH COOK BOOKS-

There are special cook books out now for people who have diabetes. My mother has diabetes and my sister found her a cook book made for people with her condition. If you have high cholesterol there are special books that teach you to cook healthier and make you healthier. There are also cook books that teach you how to make great meals with half the calories if you are on a diet and trying to lose weight.

A FEW BOOKS TO LOOK FOR-

Here is a few healthy cook books that I thought might help. For the diabetic out there you could try:

1-Cooking for Diabetics- by: Kitty Maynard, R.N.,Lucian Maynard, R.N. , and Theodore Duncan, R.N.

2- Cookbook for Diabetics and their families- this was developed by Registered Dietitians of the General Research and the Department of Diabetics of the University of Alabama in Brimingham.

3-a Cookbook for Diabetics- published by: the American Diabetes Association

4-The High Fiber Cookbook for Diabetics- By: Mabel Cavaiani, R.D.... this one seems to be the best and the biggest.

CHOLESTEROL-

Here are a few cook books that I have found for people who need help with their cholesterol.

1-The Ultimate Low Cholesterol Low Fat Cookbook- By: Christine France.

2- The 8 Week Cholesterol Cure cookbook- BY: Robert E. Kowalski... this book has about 200 recipes. So this should really be a great buy.

LOSING WEIGHT AND EATING GREAT-

1-The Weight Watchers Complete Cookbook & Program- has 500 all-new irresistible recipes Plus year-round holiday recipe bonus- that is what is says on the front cover of the book.

2-Love Food... Lose Weight- by: Steven Twigg- this is an international bestseller.

3- Martha Steward's Healthy Quick Cookbook- has 223 pages and it is by Martha Steward so where can you go wrong.

Cook Books For Bakers-

Then there are the people who are just baker nuts like my sister. You would love to make a huge elaborate cake or ect. , but you don't want to spend all day making it. You need to look for the easy bake cook books that teach you to conserve time and help you make that special desert even better than you would have thought.

Here are a few for the bakers out there that may help save some time and still get delicious foods:

1-Duncan Hines has a book called- Bake it Easy- it is only 90 pages, but packed with dozens of delicious recipes.

COOK BOOKS FOR THE WORKING PERSON-

Or lets say you are a working person with a spouse and kids who get tired of the same old, same old if you know what I mean. You want to keep the family happy, but where in the world are you supposed to find the time to make all these huge exciting meals. I know that solution.

If you look around book stores or now over the internet you can find two of my personal favorite types of cook books. There are now Microwave cook books and slow cooker cook books. You get home from work and through something in the microwave and you end up with a meal that looks like it took you half the day. Or you could use the old crock pot and start something in the morning before work. Then when you get home viola dinner is ready.

MICROWAVE-

Here are a few books that might help in the microwave categories.

1-The Simply Delicious Options Microwave Cookbook- by: Prime Options

2-Better Homes and Gardens'-Shortcut recipes. Anyone can ask their mothers or grand mothers and they would probably approve of this book because it comes from Better Homes and Gardens.

3-Betty Crocker's Microwave Cookbook- with everything from appetizers to main dishes and desserts.

4-The Good House Keeping illustrated Microwave Cookbook.

SLOW COOKER-

Here are some more quick and easy ideas for the working person:

1-Betty Crocker's Slow Cooker Cookbook- my mother has a copy of this and loves it.

2-The Best Slow Cooker Cookbook Ever-by: Natalie Haughton.

3-Easy Home Cooking's- All New Slow Cooker.

FINAL NOTE-

I hope this helps a few people. I know how it feels to not have a clue about what to do to keep my husband from saying, "That again," or my older brother from saying, "I can't eat that." Good luck and happy cooking.

I just wanted to say that I am doing some research on cookbooks to help find out what the best books out there are. I am updating periodically so look back often. Oh and I have one major recommendation. If you want to find a great cook book and cheap (after all we could all do with a little saved money) I recommend looking on ebay.
