Pros: Inexpensive easy to use and sometimes reusable.
Cons: Not 100% washable, sometimes a little uncomfortable to wear.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this set of ear plugs over the other brands not just because of the "soften" shape this attributes to inner ear blockage, but It's price.

| quarternotes's Full Review: E-A-R Classic PVC Foam Ear Plugs (NRR 29) |
E.A.R to me is clearly one of the best on the market.
Sometimes being in the world of music as well as in the carpentry field, I must take the appropriate action against damaging my ears from either loud sounds, or better yet, prolonged sounds from work.
Whether it's a 12 year-old showing me how he can play Metallica for 2 hours straight,(not getting it right even once), or the constant sound from a skill saw all day long. The older we get, the more concerned we should be about our ears and protecting them anyways.
INTRODUCTION
E.A.R is derrived from AEARO TECHNOLOGIES, founded in 1990. Their company manufactures safety equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses and respirators. E.A.R. distributes their products to north american from Indiana. Their Customer service is based in Indianapolis(not too far from where I live) They are also based in Delaware and Europe and Deliver throughout the world.
DIRECTIONS
E.A.R to me is clearly one of the best on the market. This revolutionary "gadget" is easy to use. Just squeeze and roll the foamed cylinders between your finger and thumb, then insert into your ear(s).
BODY
The plugs are made out of thermo-active foam, used by NASA space program. The plugs are made firm to ease insertion, but over time, soften. They are made specifically to form and shape around the ear canal. These plugs also warm with body temperature. This helps protect your ears from cold air exposure, contributing to hearing and ear damage. The plugs' low-pressure contributes also to minimum ear "popping". Their website can give you exact specifications on decible comfort-to-product. This peticular model does it's best protection under "normal" conditions when Decibals aren't clearly "too high".
FLAW
There are times when the plugs do get uncomfortable, but this occurs at a minimum, especially during prolonged use. The foam is reusable and easy to wash, but this is also leading to my only concern and what I deemed their only flaw.
I have used E.A.R. plugs for years and the only concern I ever questioned about this product is the "reusable" option. Yes, this can be reused, but this definately does not mean that this product can clean everytime. Hands are often dirty and applying the plugs into your ears, you are also applying anything you had on your hands, including germs. Sometimes I will pull these out of my ears and just throw them away. Often in carpentry, by the time you are finished for the day, your plugs are about as filthy as you are and there is alot of grime, as well as dirt on these plugs. They are not worth saving. Washable they may be, but getting the plugs dirty, washing them, then re-installing them into your ears is not a good idea in general. My best advise; throw them away and get another pair. Of course, this action is determined by how dirty or what exposure to the elements these plugs get, but without getting into detailed descriptions, common sense can weigh this option one way or the other.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend this set of ear plugs over the other brands not just because of the "soften" shape this attributes to inner ear blockage of sounds, but It's price.
