I wish I had something good to say about Monster. This web site seemed like a good, expansive option while looking for a job. It has only been a downhill experience since I signed up 9 months ago (in May `05).
First of all, Monster has been creeping a plethora of junk job search results every time I run a search with my search agents. Those such as "work from home" or "get rich quick" type results are common nowadays. It did not appear at first, but they are pretty sneaky about throwing them in after you have been in for a while. It is my belief that they are simply more concerned about making money than they are improving the quality of job searching. I have gotten more and better results from all the local newspaper-based job search web sites than I have from Monster. I thought CareerBuilder was the only one doing this, but apparently this isn't so.
I also don't understand why you cannot have more than 5 search agents. There are more than 5 types of jobs that I am, and most likely everyone else is, searching for. This severely limits garnering the full potential of searching out jobs.
It is hard for me to understand how they seem to have so many users when they are doing this. I can't imagine how Monster can expect to keep their users for very long if they are not very helpful.
