Over the past few years I have had several cellular companies but Boost Mobile has been the one that has given me the best service, most competitive rates and a website that serves as more than just a pimp page. Calling customer service is always an option but the website should be able to help you through most of the major issues if you ever have trouble. You can even set up and activate your new phone through the site. The first Boost phone plan I purchased only took me ten minutes with a live operator [611 from your mobile phone] and when I activated a second one for one of the boys I did it online and it took me about five minutes to get it up and running. For the most part Boost is a prepaid cellular company but they recently introduced an all inclusive plan [Boost Premium includes unlimited nights and weekend, unlimited walkie talkie, 200 regular airtime minutes, unlimited wireless web and unlimited text messaging] for $49.99 a month. All this without contracts, service fees, credit checks or any of the other hassles you get with other cellular providers.
So what makes Boost Mobile one of the best picks? Their website. It allows you to have complete control over almost every facet of your account including buying accessories and ordering new phones, sending text messages for free, coverage maps, service plans, Boost events, ReBoost your account [buy more time] and more. The site is extremely easy to navigate through and there are no pop ups or outside advertising. If you want to keep on top of all that Boost Mobile has to offer, be sure to sign up for the spam-free newsletter. It will keep you in the know about rate changes [like the now reduced walkie talkie rates, contests, new ringtones and wallpapers and more. While you are at the Boost website you can check out some of the very cool things that the street team is up to as well as entering contest to win things like movie passes or getting the updates about the 2006 Boost Mobile X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival. If you thought that this site was just about checking your balance, you are sorely mistaken.
I use the site to send text messages because its free to do it at the site. Through the Boost Mobile plan I pay ten cents to send a message and they are free to receive them so it makes sense [and saved cents] to do it from the site. Ive purchased a few accessories [extra battery charger and a mobile charger] through the site and they all arrived quickly, were the exact match for my phone and worked perfectly. The website accepts MasterCard, Visa and debit cards for purchases however if you are going to use them to recharge your account rather than to make a purchase of a product, you do have to call customer service first to set up your card. This was a complete hassle for me to do and I gave up on it but when I made the purchases through the Boost store, they went through perfectly. From the site you can buy the newest phones that have those nifty built in cameras and walkie talkie support but for me, one of the more basic models is more than sufficient. One of the nicer things about the phone section is that with one little click you can see all the accessories that you can purchase for it and if you go to buy something that isnt compatible with your phone, it will let you know. You can still make the purchase but it will alert you.
Boost Mobile is a subsidiary of Sprint Nextel so you are using their lines of communication when you are making a call, accessing your wireless web, sending text messages or downloading ringtones. Because they are backed by such a huge and massive network there are rarely any downtimes of the cellular service or the website. If you are having any trouble using your phone, be sure to check the website before you call customer service. They are great at updating down times, maintenance schedules and if there are any areas that are having trouble. If you ever have trouble with your phone or service and you call customer service and it says that the average wait time is more than a few minutes, that is an almost sure fire sign that there is trouble somewhere. This rarely happens but hey, no company is perfect. The website is always updating with new information so if you are a Boost Mobile customer and you have never checked it out, you dont know what you are missing.
Even before you activate a phone or purchase one from a local retailer [they are sold at Wal-Mart, Dairy Mart, select Target locations, Boost stores and selected Sprint and Nextel agents] you can hit the site to see if it is possible to import your existing phone number, activate your new phone, transfer your account from an older model to a newer one or check out the different plans that they have. The coverage map is extremely accurate and allows you to see where you will have a signal and where you wont. Another nice option is the ReBoost locator. This will give you information about agents in your area that sell the refill cards. You can do this on your phone regardless of whether or not you subscribe to the unlimited wireless web features. I like using the website rather than the phone, my screen is pretty small and scrolling up and down is a true chore.
Customer Service
[888] BOOST-4U
From your mobile phone, 611
If you are having trouble with a phone, you can visit the website to trouble shoot or you can call the customer service team but please, save yourself some time and aggravation and call them from another phone so they can run some tests on the phone and signal. The warranties on the phones and accessories are carried out from the phone or accessory manufacturer but Boost can help you with minor problems. Finding a physical address for Boost is almost impossible so when you need help, the website and toll free numbers are your only choices. To get the quickest reply via the website, use this form. www.boostmobile.com/support/contact_customer_care. In most cases you should get a reply within a few hours but I have had someone contact me within minutes of sending in the form.
The Bottom Line
With a very impressive website, Boost Mobile is one of the fastest growing cellular providers for people who dont want to get locked into a contract, the possibility of a termination fee or having to use a plan that isnt cost effective. There are times when my phone isnt used for a week straight and then there are times when I am on it almost nom-stop. Thats why Boost Mobile is the best pick for me. With low per minute rates, exceptional customer service and the ability to do pretty much everything from the website, Boost is my choice and one that I recommend to everyone that is looking for a cellular provider that doesnt rake them over the coals. If you are a Boost Mobile customer and have never used the website to ReBoost, send text messages or download ringtones, it is easy to navigate through and really gives you total freedom over your account.
As always, thanks for the read!
