This is the World Market Italian Roast coffee bean.

How I did the tasting
The beans used were whole beans. They were ground immediately before being placed in the French Press. I also use bottled water because my tap water has such a fowl taste. The coffee brewed for 4 minutes before being plunged. I use 5 scoops for a 10-cup batch.

Aroma
It has a medium earthy smell to it with a hint of sweetness. Nothing special or odd to it. Just plain coffee.

Flavor
The taste has a medium earthy taste with a touch of brightness (acidity.) The after taste is earthy with a touch of bitterness in the sides of the mouth. Once again, nothing too special.

The second batch
A day later I went ahead and added another scoop of beans to see the difference. That would be 6 scoops for a 10-cup batch.

The aroma was pretty much the same. It was a nice aroma and not overpowering.
The flavor had that medium earthy taste with slightly more brightness (acidity). I had expected it to be a lot earthier but it really wasn’t that strong.

My espresso maker
I pulled out my wife’s old espresso make to see how it tasted. First you should know that it is a cheap model so I didn’t expect much. The end result was so bitter and foul tasting so I just dumped it. Take a guess as to what will be at our garage sale in a few weeks.

My overall opinion
This is a good coffee if you like a greater earthy tone and higher acidity to the coffee. It is smooth and not too bitter. The only criticism is the lack of complexity in the taste. There really isn’t much going on with this bean and I don’t think I’ll buy it again especially when there are better beans out there for the same price. I could see this coffee doing well with a creamer or some other additive. But if you want a better bean get one of their other coffee’s.
