Time for Reflection

The Bottom Line Here is to all of us for making Epinions the great success it is today!
I often sit back and reflect on my life. The second week of October is never a good week for me. My son who had passed away six years ago would have turned twenty-two this week. Living through all the precious memories doesn’t seem to get any easier. I try my best to keep it to myself. I don’t want my façade of strength to falter. The second week of October also means something else to me. It is my anniversary date at Epinions. I am one of the oldie moldies; I have been here two years today October 9th. As the painful anniversary date grows nearer I have chosen to obsess on what Epinions has met to me the last two years.
All in all it has been an enjoyable experience. I have gotten acquainted with many wonderful people through out the world. These people have enriched my life tremendously. I have also ran across the site abusers, Thankfully the abusers have been the minority of the Epinions membership. I don’t believe the worst abusers to be the aaa’s, nor are the plagiarizers the worst. The worst of the abusers are the ones that use the powerful tool of the written word to hurt others. In my world I have found you reap what you sow. The members that have planted mean, hurtful words will harvest great unhappiness throughout their lives. It takes only a second to hurt someone and those wounds may never heal completely.
The meaning of the web of trust has taken on new meaning. The web of trust and what it means to me has evolved a great deal over the last two years. The WOT has taken on a deeper meaning, each and every person on my WOT is there for a different but very special reason. Perhaps it is because I have read your reviews for months if not for a couple years and love them, or perhaps the person’s profile page has something special to me that mirrors that person’s soul. I also am very slow to remove someone from my WOT. We are all human we all make an occasional mistake. Many of you are half way across the United States if not on the other side of the world. What gives me the right to make a quick judgment on a mistake you have made? I don’t know what is going on in your personal life!
Epinions is conceivably one of the greatest resources on the Internet. Never in the history of mankind have we had such a powerful tool to make manufacturers and services more honest. We have always lived in the potent world of advertisement. Now we have an instrument to get the actual facts to the average consumer. I truly believe eventually Epinions and the membership of Epinions will turn the tide on huge companies that take advantage of their monopolies, lethargic at best toward their customers. As consumers we are experiencing a new awareness. I often log in to Epinions to find what others think of a product or service before I make a buying decision. I praise Epinions for having the guts to do what it takes to keep the company viable and successful. It has been the membership of Epinions, in part, that has made the site the success it is today, but it has also been the management of Epinions that has moved forward in spite of the complaints of hundreds of thousands of members all complaining about something different. We have all experienced frustrations but all in all the successes have far outweighed the failures.
Epinions has done a great deal for me personally. I have developed confidence in myself as a person and as a writer. I have had the opportunity to experiment with a readership to see what works and what won’t work. Thanks to Epinions I have gained the skills and confidence to write for a newspaper. This is a big deal to me because I have never had the confidence inside me to display my work to be scrutinized by the public. I now have the strength to learn by my mistakes. Before Epinions I would have never had the guts to make a mistake in front of thousands of people.
Many of you have touched my life deeply. I have cried for you, I have laughed so hard that I couldn’t stop. You have enriched my life because I see that I have become a better person. Thank you all for the last two years.
