...(actually 4-1-1's WoT) and came across your name/picture. Had to see what that animal on your picture was!! (I'm looking for cats...see my user page...:-))
Sorry to see that this essay was apparently your 'swan song' here at epinions. You sound like a great person and a writer I would love to read.
Best of life to you..

Great Job here... (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for taking the time to write this heart-felt and great epinion. I will be coming up on my 2nd anniv. in January and can relate to everything you wrote here. Just coming back after a little epinions hiatus and wanted to check up on those on my WOT and alerts list. Glad to see you're still here!

Too often we read opinions with the author kicking and screaming over something trivial, this is a refreshing change and loaded with truth. Thanks - Mark -

The things that make us stay (Reply to this comment)
by jrk
Although time is a great healer, I know from experience that anniversaries tend to open old wounds. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time of year. Your kindness and strength of spirit shine through here though, despite your pain.
You are far more forgiving than I in terms of what the site has gradually become (over the past year especially). I tend to gripe a lot. But your reflections here mirror my reasons for sticking around for nearly two years, too.
Like you, I am grateful to Epinions for the boost of confidence it has afforded me. Prior to writing book reviews here, it would never have occurred to me that I might be able to have my reviews published. But with all the supportive comments and feedback I received from members here, I dared to approach a newspaper with my idea for a book review column, and I am now not only a columnist, but also a copy editor for the newspaper. Epinions may not be entirely responsible for my new status, but it sure helped. For that, and for all the wonderful people I've met here, I'll always be grateful.

Wonderful Reflections (Reply to this comment)
by LEDOMAINE
Ah, the stuff a strong, productive life is made of! Diana, thanks for sharing your heart and thoughts with us. As a mother, I grieve with you over the void that must remain when we've lost a child. As a fellow writer and Epinionator, I congratulate you (though late!) on your second anniversary. May we share many more such poignant, yet rewarding, years.
Take care, God bless, and stay strong.

a beautifully written and touching review. I am saddened to hear of the son you lost. That must have been so hard, and the reminder each year. . .
I thoroughly enjoy epinions and have found it of much benefit also. Thanks for a great review and sharing a part of yourself.

comment. I fit in there, too. My sympathy on your loss. Thank you for being around when I though no one was ever going to read my stuff. How nice that you are writing for publication. I remember 12 years ago when I started typing my first piece with unsure fingers. I recently re-read it and it wasn't that bad.
Again, thanks for helping to make Epinions a positive experience. Here's a toast to many more years of creativity for you . . . and all of us.

Lets see, your anniversary date is Jan 17 '00. I have a review to thank for the great coffee maker I ended up buying. Many other purchases also but my coffee maker is a very close friend of mine. I have also avoided many purchasing mistakes by coming to Epinions first! Thank you for reading and commenting.

My faith too gives me the faith to know that I will be with him again someday. Faith is such a wonderful blessing! The veil is very thin, and I feel him near to me. Heck, you and I live so close we ought to get together sometime! Thank you for your kindness.

Lorace. Losses of loved ones is always difficult. I feel my son very close to me though I do look forward to the day when we are together again.
I think one of my few gripes about Epinions is the lack of encouragement we offer new members. How many times I have seen a NR slapped on a brand new members review. I wouldn't be encouraged to try again. My first reviews were certainly not stellar! Thank you for reading and commenting.

Maryanne, thank you. Hug your precious son for me. So many teens and young people today are convinced they are immortal. It saddens me greatly when I see them take such awful chances. Thank you so much. I have enjoyed your reviews and your delightful personality for a long time. Here's to many more years at Epinions! (Did I just say that?) lol

Jen, wonderful memories. Pretty special place to be. I don't write as much as I use to simply because I write all the time and just can't seem to get the motivation. One day soon maybe I will learn to organize my time a little better. Thanks for reading and for your nice comment!

We have all probably cried and laughed over Epinion post several times. Some writers lift my spirit, some give me hope, and often one makes me count my many blessings. So here is the case. My heart breaks for you on the loss of your son, and my faith is renewed in the life of Epinions. It is the ability to have someone touch my world through writing I am here, I can not feel your pain, but I can share it, and pray for you, that peace will fill your life. Hang in there, God is watching, and holding you in His Love.
