Pros: Don't smell, don't leave residue

The Bottom Line: I wouldn't waste my pennies until the manufacturer makes them a bit more sturdy so that they are actually re-usable

| doddaa2001's Full Review: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser |
I had seen the TV advertisements indicating that the new Mr. Clean Magic Erasers would remove marks from walls, since I moved in to my new house, I had a few "scuffs" on the walls from where furniture had scraped up against the walls so I thought I'd give Mr. Clean a shot, after all they seemed so effortless, wet and wipe.
As I was looking at my options I saw that there was a new Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Extra Power. For me and my messes, I figured a little extra power couldn't hurt. After I got home, I promptly took one of the sponges out of the package and wet it and started to go to work on the spots on my walls. While it did remove the "scuffs" around my house, it wasn't the simple light swipe you see advertised. I had to put some elbow grease in to it (something I could have done with another cleaner and a washrag). Not only did it require more effort than I had guessed from the advertisements, but by the time I was finished the sponge itself had torn. At first I thought it was a fluke, I mean didn't Extra Power also mean extra durability? I mean I had seen them advertised to handle much heavier duty jobs like washing a car tire.
My roommate moved in a few more of her things and had re-scuffed the walls, so I figured I'd give it one more shot. I removed the non-torn sponge and went to work on the walls again, the sponge, once again tore, not enough to make it totally useless, but enough for me to realize that this a one time use product, and does not have the longevity of re-use as advertised.
On the upside, they don't smell, they don't leave any residue behind (except for maybe excess water), they don't take the paint off the walls along with the marks you want to remove, and they were easy to dispose of as I just tossed them in my trash can.
For all of you that have allergic reactions to harsh cleaning chemicals, I can't find the active ingredients anywhere (including on the packaging) which makes me believe that either a) we're paying for a sponge in a pretty box or b) we'll all start to glow in the dark from the unknown ingredients. The best information I could find on what actually makes up Mr. Clean Magic Erasers was located at http://pubs.acs.org/cen/coverstory/83/8304soaps.html
As for me I had no adverse reaction, but I also know that I don't really have adverse reactions to nearly anything.
As Inigo Montoya says in The Princess Bride, "Let me sum up..."
I think the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have promise, but I won't be purchasing them again until the manufacturer makes them a bit more sturdy and prolongs their re-use cycle.
