The Best Micro Brewery In the US (Reply to this comment)
by shipinn
In a small town in NJ called Milford lies a brew pub with the best English-style brews. From cask conditioned Bitters to slightly corbinated Milds. Famous of course for serving our ales in English 20oz pints. I found your reading informative and thank you for squelshing a lot of misconceptions of british brews.

I never imagined that I would see Taylor's Landlord mentioned on this site, or at least not until I took the plunge and wrote my first beer review!
A very comprehensive overview but sadly, just to update you, Wards got took over by one of the fizzy keg brigade a while ago, and they promptly stopped brewing its fine range of (laxitive effect) brews!

Never a more thorough review written. Great advice and information. Beyond the IPA and Winter Welcome I have little to compalin about on Sam Smith's. Youngs and Fullers also have some great selections for US shoppers. Probably the worst representation of English beers now is the nitro can, Boddi's, Tetley's and I recently saw John Smith's. These are probably what you'd call the British Bud, Coors and Miller.

There are quite a few English ales that are top notch. I am particularly fond of Fullers 1845, Most of Samuel Smith's products, Bass' Pale Ale, etc.
Quite a few beers on your list that I've never tried. As soon as I put down my Colt 45 I am going to put together a shopping list.
Great review,
