When I purchased my mobile phone, I signed up for direct payment.
This request was ignored, and I started receiving requests for payment.
I called up on 28-Sep-2000 [representative: Pamela x1545], paid my bill, and requested again direct payment.
This request was ignored, and I continued to receive requests for payment.
The bill quoted an email. I emailed on 28-Dec-2000 requesting direct payment.
This request was ignored, and I continued to receive requests for payment.
I emailed again on 26-Jan-2001 requesting direct payment.
This request was ignored, and I continued to receive requests for payment.
I called again on 3-Mar-2001 [representative: Ryan]. I paid my bill in full ($216). Again I requested direct payment.
Not only was this request ignored (I continued to receive bills), but the next bill showed no sign of my payment in full.
My wife, unaware that I had paid, called Worldcom 27-Mar-2001. They told her (you guessed it) that the bill was not paid. She then paid it a 2nd time ($254).
And, brilliantly, despite the fact that they had fraudulently/mistakenly overcharged for my service, guess what ...
They cut my phone off on 3-Apr-2001.
I wrote to them cancelling my service on 8-Apr-2001, and requested a refund of my overpayment. I have heard nothing yet from them.
Except that on 27-Apr-2001 I received a bill from Allied Interstate Debt Collection services.
I'll keep you posted how the saga continues.
[All I will say is that my excuse as to why I signed up with them in the first place is that I used to live overseas and just didn't know. If only I knew about epinions at the time ...
]
