Nothing does me like a diner!

The Bottom Line Great food at a great price with pretty good service.

Being the daughter of a truck driver, I feel as if my whole culinary experience outside of the home was shaped by my father's passion for diners. The joy of diners is not soo much the price or the atmosphere, though they do have a culture all their own, but the sheer fact that diners please most anybody. If you want Italian, get yourself some pasta. Don't like Italian but enjoy seafood? Go for the combination! Have a late night, mid-day or early evening urge for breakfast foods? Go to the diner! Most diners serve breakfast dishes 24 hours a day.

As mentioned, my father is a truck driver. During his travels, he's visited many a local diner and has a solid opinion on every one. He has shared these little treasures with his family and I will list my favorites below:

The Melrose Diner -- South Philly
"Everybody who knows, goes to Melrose!" The Melrose Diner is about as much apart of Philadelphian culture as the Liberty Bell and cheesesteaks. The most charming feature is that your standard partitions are not present in this diner so you get to meet new people while you chomp away at your parm chicken.

The Aramingo Diner -- Port Richmond
Located at Aramingo Avenue and Westmoreland Street, the Aramingo Diner is a staple in the Port Richmond community. In recent years, they have remodeled so you get the best of a traditional diner motif with a modern flare. The Aramingo is renowned for their magnificant cheesecakes. This diner played host many times to high school get-togethers with friends and birthday brunches.

Amechi's -- Juniata
Not much to say about this Erie Avenue eatery as I haven't been there in years but the food was always good and the service was always about average.

The Mayfair Diner -- Mayfair
Good food, good service. Located on Frankford Avenue, this diner serves as a nice diversion after a hard day of shopping.

Tiffany's 24-Hour Diner -- Far Northeast
Good food and nice and clean. Located at Welsh and Roosevelt Boulevard, it's a good place to refresh after doctors visits (my orthodontist is across the street) or days out with the girls.

The Suburban Diner -- Feasterville
A bit of a cheat as it's in the 'burbs, but the food is amazing! They have a fantabulous salad bar with all the right trimmings. You'll love it! (Located at Street Road and Bustleton Pike.)

As you can tell, I take my diners seriously! I hope this helps ease your late night cravings.
