Don't Just Bag It....Ziploc Big Bag It.

Written: Apr 07 '06 (Updated Apr 07 '06)
Pros:Big size clear bags with handles, great for storing.
Cons:None so far
The Bottom Line: These Ziploc Big Bags are nice for storing, and transporting many kinds of item, without taking up a lot of room.

The first time I saw these large Ziploc Big Bags was at my son's house, when they were packing up some things to take on a camping trip last Fall. These bags were quite large, and he was putting outdoor games, books, and table games in one of the bags for my 3 grand daughters to play with while camping. In one of the other Ziploc Big Bags he was placing all the dry food items that they would need along with many paper products that they would need for camping. I asked him where he got the bags and he said Wal-Mart. I liked the idea that these bags were big, clear and had a nice handle for carrying. I figured these bags would be great for storing my blankets and extra bedspreads in while they weren't in use, along with other items for storage. I have plastic totes that I do use to store many things now, but they do take up a lot of space in my closet now.

On the way home that day I did stop at Wal-Mart and checked them out. There were two sizes to pick from. XL which are 2FT. x 1.7Ft, and the XXL which are 2Ft. x 2.7Ft. I decided to try the XL size first which cost $5.66 for 4 large bags. The Ziploc XXL Big Bags only has 3 bags in the box, but are a lot larger then the XL bags, and are better for storing larger items.

FEATURES:
These bags are quite huge, heavy duty plastic and are see-through, which makes them nice to be able to see just what you have stored in them.

On the top of each bag is a reinforced handle, which makes them convenient for carrying, whether your using them to take on a trip, transporting to and from your house, your garage or into the basement.

On the top of each bag there are two holes. This will allow you to hang the bag from nails or pegs. These holes will line up with studs in the garage or a wall. I have one bag hanging on our peg board in our garage now with all of the summer outdoor games that my grand children play with when I'm babysitting them. Lawn Jarts, balls, plastic horse shoes, Badmitten set, sidewalk chalk, along with several other outdoor games.

I found it a lot better storing these items in the XL Ziploc Big Bag and hanging it on the wall. Before I had placed all of their outdoor play things into a large box on the garage floor. This way these things are stored neatly up on the wall and doesn't clutter up my garage floor.

The bottom of each Ziploc Big Bag comes with a pleated bottom, which is nice to be able to stack items into, and keep them stored upright if you desire.

At the top of each Ziploc Big Bag there is a pinch 'n seal zipper to keep the bag tightly closed. This will keep out some of those pests, along with dust also. When each bag is filled, it's a good idea to squeeze the bag to let out all of the air before you zipper the bag closed.

On the right top front of each Ziploc Big Bag there is white square spot with seven long lines where you can write in and mark the contents of anything that is being stored in the bag.

ITEMS THAT CAN BE STORED IN THESE ZIPLOC BIG BAGS:

Camping gear
Sport Gear
Toys
Books
Blankets
Bedspreads
Bed pillows
Seasonal Clothing
Crafts
Garden Supplies
Holiday decorations

These Large Big Ziploc Bags are ideal for organizing a variety of items and will eliminate a lot of clutter. Their sturdy enough to hold most kinds of bulky items and can be used over and over.

I usually keep my extra blankets and bedspreads in a large plastic tote in my closet. These totes are nice but take up a lot of room. One of the Ziploc Big Bags is now sitting on the top shelf in my closet with 2 extra blankets stored inside and 1 extra bedspread that I have for my spare bedroom for guests or for the grand children when they sleep over. These 2 blankets and the bedspread are only twin size, so they fit just right in the XL bag. If you have larger size blankets or spreads you may only get 1 or 2 items of these in the XL bag, depending on the size. The XXL size would be better for larger sized bedding.

Our bed is Queen size so I did end up buying the XXL size Ziploc Big Bags also for storing a few of our extra Queen size blankets along with 2 other Queen size bedspreads that I have. Being these Ziploc Big bags are clear and easy to see what is being stored in them, it's a lot easier to find what I'm looking for. I had to always rummage through the tote to see if what I was looking for was in the tote.

Later in the Spring I like to bring out my lighter bedspreads to use, and in the Winter I like to use my heavier bedspread and comforters. So these Ziploc bags are great to store my seasonal bedding as well.

The 3rd. XL Ziploc Big Bag I used to put away all of my summer clothes. If the weather keeps up like it has been lately, I will start bringing out all of my summer clothes from the big bag. I don't have a lot of dresser drawer space, so these bags will be the ideal thing for storing a lot of seasonal clothing items in. Once the weather gets a little warmer, my winter clothes will be stored in the XL Ziploc bag as well.

These Ziploc Big Bags can be stored standing up because of the pleated bottom, or they can be placed flat on top of one another, on a shelf or stored up on a wall. To make the Ziploc Big Bag stand upright, all I had to do was put both of my hands inside the bag, and open up the pleated bottom. This makes the bottom of the bag flat and into a rectangular bottom.

The 4th. Ziploc Big Bag is stored in my garage in which I've placed some of my gardening stuff. My gardening supplies, gardening gloves, my kneeling gardening pad, a few of my smaller gardening tools that I have placed into old socks to keep them from ripping the Big Bag, a bag of soil and plant food for my indoor plants, and a small plastic sprinkling can along with a few rags that I use for clean-ups.

These Ziploc Big Bags are very sturdy, yet flexible, which lets them fit easily into spaces that a hard tote can't. If you don't have a lot of room to store them, they can be easily placed under the bed.

These Ziploc Big Bags can be used to keep many items in. My daughter in-law has collected Barbie Dolls since she was 5 years old. Her Mom has given her each year a new Special Edition Barbie Doll. She uses these Ziploc Big Bags to keep her dolls in now. She used to just stack them on her closet floor and throw and old sheet over them, but now she uses 4 XL Ziploc Big Bags to keep all of her Barbie Dolls in. She likes these bags because it keeps the dolls and the boxes that they come in clean and free from dust.

CAUTIONS FROM THE BOX:
Ziploc brand Big bags should be kept out of reach of children. These bags are not toys. To avoid danger of suffocation, keep plastic bags away from babies and children.

DO I RECOMMEND THESE ZIPLOC BIG BAGS:
I like these Ziploc Big Bags for storing items in. Their clear and sturdy bags. They do take up less room to store and are easy to transport anywhere. They are great for organizing many items in the garage, workshop, closets, bedroom, basement, and would be handy to take on a trip. I know they do cost $5.66 and you only get 4 XL bags, or only 3 XXL bags, but these bags are really big and they do hold a lot of items to store, so to me they are worth the money.

Thanks for reading!!
