I like to use various air fresheners to keep my home smelling fresh. I use scented candles (for the whole house), sprays (for a quick solution to kitchen, bathroom odors, etc.) plug-ins (in bathrooms)and the latest addition has been Glade Glass Scents, a rather different style of freshener. As I have for my other fresheners, I have a specific use for this one and that is for small, frequently used areas.
Glade’s Claim:
Place new Glass Scents in the living-room, bedroom or den. This non-electric continuous air freshener is designed to look great anywhere! Only Glass Scents contains natural fine fragrance oils from Glade set in an etched glass design. A perfect complement to any room in your home. Simply remove the foil from the fragrance gel packet adhered to the Glass Scents unit to enjoy your favorite fragrance for 30 days.
The Product:
This product comes in the form of a square, transparent, glass tile with a colored, also transparent, square sachet of scented oil placed in the middle, on the back of the tile. The tile, which is about 3 ½ by 31/2 inches and about ¾ inch thick, has a protruding portion on the back of the base which allows you to stand it on end. It is not a plug-in nor something you must light or spray. You just display it where you want and it sits and puts off its scent. I bought the Clean Linen scent which comes in blue. It also comes in Nectar Blossoms (Green) and Jasmine Meadows (yellow), each one having its own little design etched in to the center of the tile.
It is simple to set up by peeling off a protective foil layer from the surface of the sachet. It is eye-catching on my coffee table looking like some sort of knick-knack rather than a freshener.
My Experience:
When I first purchased this home fragrancer (as Glade puts it), I figured I would use it in my living room. However, it doesn’t seem to put out enough scent to cover a large area. It ended up in my den on the coffee table where it does serve its purpose. In my den, which is smaller than my living room, the sofa and chairs surround the TV and the coffee table sits in the middle. The scent is strong enough to envelope this smaller area where we often spend our time.
The Clean Linen scent is a fresh, vibrant, soapy scent that freshens this small area but goes no further. It is a pretty little addition to my coffee table but it does get knocked over from time to time. I think this product would also be useful in small bedrooms and larger walk-in closets. I would imagine that this product would not be safe around small children because it is fairly heavy and the sachet could be punctured easily.
A Few Warnings:
Do not place unit with the perfume side facing down.
Do not place the perfumed side of the unit directly on any varnished or finished surface.
Do not place near an open flame
Do not remove or puncture clear film covering fragrance gel. If contact is made with eyes, rinse with water for 20 minutes. If eye irritation persists, consult a physician.
Conclusion:
I was a bit disappointed with Glade Glass Scents at first because I could barely smell it in my living room. However, it works well for smaller areas, especially those that are used frequently. This product just about lasted the thirty days it promises but starts fading out a little before that.
The scent is refreshing and the decorative tile is pretty and is something you can display just like you would a knick-knack. For $2.50 which is what I paid for it at my local HEB grocery store, it was worth the money for me. If you have a huge house with huge rooms, I would keep shopping as this product is not effective for large areas.
