Half.com has always been one of my most favorite used book stores online. I need something, it is usually there for sale at half or less suggested retail price. Half.com is an Ebay company. Unlike Ebay where there is a wait time for an auction to end before knowing if you got the item, items are sold by private sellers at a set price. More times than not, sellers on Half.com are accurate with description and condition of items. There will always be one bad apple who sells you something completely different or is worse condition than advertised. Half.com customer service is always there to help you with this and you can demand a refund. You can always contact the seller and ask a question before purchasing, but there is no guarantee it will be there for that great low price when the seller decides to return your email.
Half.com has a feedback rating system similar to Ebay, and I would always suggest if something looks too cheap to be for real, then check the feedback. More than a couple negative feedbacks in recent transactions and I go on to the next seller, even if the price is not as low. Sometimes a buyer will leave negative feedback and a seller will respond. Usually this indicates a dedicated and honest seller...depending on the feedback. Use your own common sense and trust your guts.
I have had experiences where an item ordered never arrived, they have been few and far in-between, but Half.com has always reimbursed me for those failing to arrive. Customer service is top notch.
Their suggested maximum wait time for delivery is 14 days.
Checkout is simple and can be quick with their Speedy Checkout feature.
Site is super easy to navigate and search.
