Great question, Dave. I'm far from an expert on these things (I'll bet nc10 would have a better answer than I do), but from my experience buying printers and cartridges for work, I would have to say that laser printers do make the most fiscal sense and provide higher quality documents for your money. The one inkjet printer we have sucks a lot of our money, while the laser printer cartridges really last.
And we're nonprofit so money counts!

Based on the inexpensive cost of the ink jets and the high cost of the ink (which everyone knows is where the companies really make their money) I wonder sometimes if laser printers over the long haul make a wiser investment than ink jets. Any thoughts?
