Cons: Inadequate guide/driver,barely any sightseeing,dreadful hotels,inedible food.Much money for aggravation and disappointment.

We traveled to Iceland and Greenland with Vantage and also took the trans-Canadian railway from Toronto to Vancouver with them. At the times we traveled several years ago, they were fine. This situation led us to book a trip to Tunisia this spring. They canceled it claiming there were not enough travelers going and tried to rebook us at a time we could not go. We substituted a Mediterranean cruise in its stead since one of the ports of call is Carthage, Tunisia. The company is totally clueless in how to treat its customers ranging from completely ignoring simple requests and questions to being downright rude.
You give Vantage too much leeway and forgiveness for poor service and inept guides. These trips are NOT cheap! The "bad match" of which you speak is their lack of training or concern for their clientele, not the trip and the traveler. People who want to see unusual sights in Iceland, and there are plenty, do not want to be stuck in stores where their guides get commissions.

I too have found Vantage completely contrary to their client's wishes. The only thing they do very well is bill people. We booked a cruise on a Holland America ship through the Mediterranean after they canceled our tour to Tunisia, so I am hoping to salvage something of the vacation. We too traveled to Greenland and Iceland with Vantage, but we had terrific guides and really saw both places. Things have changed there over the past few years. I hope word gets out. I have a letter for the American Society of Travel Agents and Better Business Bureau about the terrible experience I have had with them this time. I will NEVER travel with them again, and my husband and I have visited 130 countries!

Actually, I have been quite mild about Vantage.
In the 35 years that we have been married, we have travelled on short trip, long trips. we have gone to various places in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Over the years, we have encountered little annoyances, or hotels that do not meet your expectations, etc. We usually have laughed about it and enjoyed the rest of a trip.
The one with Vantage to Iceland was inadequate in every single aspect. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it. Please read my review of the China trip we took this year and note the difference.

Our advice: do NOT use Vantage Travel ever and tell your friends and family the same. We did.
I wonder if you aren't being just a bit too hard on Vantage? Possibly this tour was a big disappointment to you...or, below your expectations...but, from where I sit it looks like an Icelandic tour may have just been a bad match for you!
