I've always been a believer in trying to shop locally. I've always been a supporter of the "little guy", the business person making a living in the community, and the usual expertise which is given with the personal touch. My father started out his retail career as a pharmacist with Walgreens, pre-World War II. He went into business for himself, later in life, always as an independent merchant. I tried for the longest time to stay away from Walgreens as I felt it was too "cookie cutter." The even-Steven approach to merchandising and mass-marketing. Walgreens.com was no different, so I thought.
All it took was one night when our first born was sick, had a wildly high temperature and infection. Calling our doctor at 2am, he gladly helped us and offered to call in a prescription for us, but where? There is a 24-hour Walgreens in our village, and at 3am, I was drove the short few miles, picking up a prescription for my baby. That service convinced me, and Walgreens.com is truly an extension of their 24/7 service.
Walgreens.com simply, provides me with an on-line prescription refill service which is unmatched! While I do not have any real life-death medications, I do have three which need to be refilled monthly. All I need to do is register on-line, easy, simple, with a password. You have selections available to you for newsletters, shopping bargains, health tips.
Walgreens.com has a health library, drug interaction area, and comparative shopping prices, all handy. These are facts you never think of, until you need to! Great to have at your fingertips, 24/7. It also has a substantial retail area, where you can look at or print out the weekly supplement flyer you get in many local newspapers.
Walgreens.com allows you to set personal email reminders for pharmacy refills, doctor's appointments, and immunizations. It also has a personal health history site, in case you need to document some medical needs.
Why Walgreens.com? It doesn't get any easier! I used to use Walgreens phone refill service, but on-line is easier! My prescription history is listed, can go on as long as I need to! I click-click-click my refills, and what time I would like to pick them up. I do have a "preferred" Walgreens, just down the street, where I can have the presecriptions filled or it gives me the option of ANY Walgreens in the United States! If I'm on vacation or on my way to work, I can click, and pick up my meds right there! It is amazing! It is simple! It is easy. The record keeping for medical and tax purposes is simply amazing. Not only for my Flexible Savings Plan, which covers my deductible but now at the store, a F is listed on the receipt to help distinguish the deductable charges! If you have major medical costs, I feel this would be a dream at tax time! If needed, there is a free Medicare report.
I tried saving a few dollars by shopping around, and yes, Walgreens is a bit more expensive. Again, during one of my cheap phases, I went to a major retail store to get my medications refilled, and saved about $5. That is good, until I showed up at 7:01 and the pharmacy closed promptly at 7! While the store was open until 10pm, the pharmacy was not. Fool me once, back to Walgreens.com! Walgreens does contact your medical provider for any questions on any refill or conflicting meds. They know their stuff! You do not lose any of the personal touches by ordering through Walgreens.com
If you want one thing to start to simplify your life, you can begin with Walgreens.com. 24/7 service, mail or pick up your meds at 24/7 pharmacies or locally during business hours. Walgreens.com has all the reports and records you need for insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, and income taxes. Simply, Walgreens.com can simplify, while helping your lifestyle!
