Misleading... (Reply to this comment)

As usual, a lot of misleading information here.

First of all, there is virtually no difference in picture quality between "regular" RCA or GE S-Video cable and Monster Cable.

The component video cables do not "usually cost $50+".

There is little difference between S-Video and component video connection.

"However, you simply can't compare analog to digital" - the digital signal gets converted to analog sound at some point anyway. If the DAC in DVD player is better than the one in the receiver, the sound quality can be better with analog connection.

You also don't mention the coaxial digital cable option. And there is not a single word here on progressive scan...

I have yet to see any measured comparisons on the differences between regular (lower priced) cable and the much more expensive (Monster etc) cable. Isn't it possible, since it seems impossible to find specs. on these cables that their success is a result of aggressive marketing and not much more? Is a 2% improvement worth 400% increase in cost?
If there is anyone out there that can show me with specs. numbers and graphs how one is better than the other, I would greatly appreciate it. In the meantime I will spend the extra money on measurable video improvement, power, specs. features and sound by upgrading my home electronics equipment.
