The Bottom Line Liquid Dishwasher Detergent makes images on your greeting cards stand out like they are embossed. They are much lighter than the cardstock.
I would like to introduce you to yet another technique that is quite unique when creating your own greeting cards with rubber stamps. It is quite easy to do. Items that you will need: 1. A plastic dish or plate 2. Dishwasher detergent (liquid) 3. Rubber stamp of your choice 4. Card stock 5. A small sponge 6. Ink pads (your choice of colors) 7. Paper towel I usually put about 1/8 cup, or less, of liquid dishwasher detergent into a shallow bowl with a piece of paper towel on the bottom of the bowl; depending on how many greeting cards that you want to make this way. The paper towel keeps the stamps from getting too wet and keeps them from dripping onto your cardstock. I like to use dark colored card stock for this project. First you dip your rubber stamp into the liquid detergent and then stamp the image on to your card stock. The liquid dishwasher detergent makes the image of your stamp look white; and raised. It doesn't show up immediately. Let it dry for a short time and you will be amazed at the results. Sometimes, I use a small sponge and apply a little color to the dried image to bring it out even more. If you use a rubber stamp that is imprinted with a leaf, you can sponge a number of subtle colors from different ink pads to make your leaves look like the fall colors that you see at this time of year. Cards made like this can be used in October and November for birthday cards, get-well cards, thinking of you cards, Halloween cards and Thanksgiving cards. You may have even more ideas. I hope that you will enjoy this technique for some of your greeting cards; it really is not hard! Enjoy! |
