Well thought-out and organized, in addition to very well written. Too bad I was about 2.5 years too late to win the prize!

We have a winner on the trivia contest...

andaryl displayed his amazing need to "get a life" outside the barroom by correctly naming Schapskooi as the only real Trappist brewery outside of Belgium (I would have accepted La Trappe too, since that's their brand name).

Added trivia: La Trappe is the only brewery I know of that does a single (Enkel) as well as a Quadrupel.

I was serious about the prize too...I'll contact you by email.

Congratulations!

While I had had Chimay and some others before, I was really introduced to the fine Belgian beer experience by epinions' own Dave Teykaerts. I wish I could remember the names of some of the 13 dollar bottles that boy plied me with, but i have to say, these beers were like nothing I'd ever experienced before. Every word you write here is true.

As always you show your vast knowledge while throwing in some great humorous analogies. I especially enjoyed your judging method for lambics. As an added point you could stretch the red white and blue to Chimay although I never thought of that until I read your review.
