hilscrat's Full Review: Sony MDR-V700DJ MDR-V700DJ Studio Monitor Series D...
I own the MDR 700's . They are by far the best sounding headphones I've ever owned ! I also have the MDR 600's , the 500's , and the Sennheiser HD280 PRO's . I admit , the Sennheiser's sound "just as good" as the 700's and are lighter but, they don't swivel or fold or look as good .
I've read a couple of reviews that said the 700's only had 1000 mW power handling and 40 mm drivers . The inscription paper inside the box does say that but I recently spoke to the senior manager of production for Sony USA . He said that they do have 50 mm drivers and they do have 3000mW handling . He also said they put the same papers in the 5,6,and 700's but promises not to put the same paper into the 900's which is a newer version of the 700's . If you ever listened to the 600's , you can tell the difference in sound quality and bass .
The construction is good but not great . I always said that with everything , "it 's as good as the person who takes care of it" .
I have big ears , so I needed some headphones that are 1) comfortable 2) lightwieght and 3) powerful . They're not as comfortable or as light as the Sennheiser's so I sacraficed that for the sound , plus for about half the price , it's was a no-brainer ! Having one cord (on left side) is a plus too . The Sennheiser's have two thin cords that in time will short out .
I do recommend these for true Dj's .
From 1 - 5 stars ; I gave them 4 stars !
