When purchasing a new television, I did a LOT of research. I looked all over the net, in stores and by word of mouth. What I came up with was ShopSunshine.com. These guys are based in NY and have had some kind of seriously great idea.
They sell Audio (Car Audio, CD Players, DJ Equipment, Sub Woofers, Home Stereo Equipment, etc.), Video (Camcorders, DVD-VCR Combos, even PAL Equipment, etc...), Photo (Digital Cameras, Camcorder and Digital Camera Accessories, Film Scanners.), Televisions (Every TV type you can think of: Plasmas, LCD Flat Panel, Projections, Front Projection, Tubes, DILA and LCOS, DLP's, etc...), Home Appliances (Cooking Products, Food Disposal, Outdoor Living, Laundry and Refrigeration), DJ Equipment (Lots of it) and finally, Accessories (Cables, Camera Lights, Installation, Monster Power Center, Remote Controls, etc...).
I've bought a TV for this particular first purchase. I picked one that was selling @ Best-Buy for $3,500. I got it at ShopSunshine.com for $2,500. I also bought the Extended Warranty. When they were shipping it, they even called to find out if I'd like to pay a little extra to have it here much sooner. Nice.
It is like buying anything else online. You search the criteria, choose the brand, style and model, add it to your cart and checkout. VERY user-friendly. They even tell you upfront if it isn't in stock and how long it usually takes to ship.
They even contacted me when it was shipping and made sure everything was ok. One thing that is a little odd is their receipt instructions. It is very demanding of the customer. They only want your satisfaction, however, so I was ok with it. It is a bit different for each product you purchase, but this was my first purchase from them, so I didn't know what to expect. Basically, all of their products are brand new and factory sealed so the customer is expected to examine the box exterior, remove the packaging with the delivery people still present and examine the product before signing off on the ship-bill.
What can I say, the guys at ShopSunshine.com are very detail oriented. I'll pay less for more individualized attention any day. Cheap is my favourite price.
2 months later, I'm still pleased with my purchase and have even made another (Home Theater). I'm equally as pleased with the cost and quality on this system as I was with the TV. The reciept process is mostly the same, but a little less strange the second time around. I've got a lot of my friends shopping here and am even looking for some new Camera Equipment and maybe even a new Digital Camera. I'll keep you posted.
