The Bottom Line Internet FileZone was a pioneer in the free web-based storage service. The service was good. But I can't recommend this to you. Read on.

About two years and a few months ago, I was looking for some file storage media. Floppy disks and Zip drives are fine, but it's not always convenient to carry the disks physically with me.
Except carrying disks in my bag, my main option at that time was the personal FTP account. However, this option was not very nice, either. Some computers were not equipped with FTP client. Moreover, even if they had FTP clients, I needed to type all the information to log into my storage space. (Using MS-DOS prompt doesn't have the user-friendly interface. It's out of the question.)
One of my good options at that time was to find the good storage space on the internet where I could access my storage space with internet browsers. Even if the computer didn't have the FTP client, it should have the internet browser, if it is connected to the internet.
I did some research, and found a few web-based internet storage service providers. Internet FileZone was one of them.
They had the affiliate program, and for some reasons, I joined it. I didn't market my affiliate account enough to receive some good rewards. But the documents have been sitting in my old computer. Let me cite the information from them.
SERVICE FEATURES
free service
* Encrypted file storage on offsite.
* Up to 10 MB
* Immediate access from any web browser
* Free web-based support
* Store any type of files.
premium service
This service was not free. If you wanted to expand the storage space beyond 10MB, you had to subscribe their premium service with the small amount of fee.
$9.99 a month for 100MB storage
$14.99 a month for 1GB
PROS
The pros were obvious. You didn't have to carry the floppy disks or zip disks physically with you. Plus, if you had the access to the internet browsers, you can manage your files very easily.
Moreover, Internet FileZone was provided with file compression and RSA RC2 encryption. As long as you could trust this company, you can store your important files with the good peace of mind.
Note that Internet FileZone was not the place for backing up the entire system. Though the monthly cost of $14.99 for 1GB was decently cheap, you would have been better off, if you use some other media backing up the entire system.
CONS
Now, let me explain their only one con. As you might have noticed, I kept using the past tense above. And I didn't do this for fun.
Simply speaking, Internet FileZone went out of the market. Now, nobody can access its (used-to-be) good service.
Though you can access their original URL, http://www.i-filezone.com/, this one was released and re-registered by somebody else, which means what you will see is completely different from the original.
(FYI: Though it was not their original URL, http://www.ifilezone.com/ was also released and re-registered by somebody else.)
Moreover, the URL of Atrieva, the forerunner of Internet FileZone, is not even reachable. Plus, DriveWay, the successor of Internet FileZone doesn't talk anything about the internet file storage service at their site.
REMARKS
How can I recommend the company which went under?
