Pros: Good on gas for a 6-cylinder, Looks GREAT, Rides smooth and quiet.
Cons: Kinda pricey, small glove box- you can actually ONLY fit your gloves in it.
The Bottom Line: It's expensive, but there is no price on comfort when I'm commuting. It's worth the $40,000- so bite the bullet and buy it :)

| hyunoklee82's Full Review: 2004 Cadillac CTS |
Ok- so I'm 23 years old, and have been a proud (oh so proud) 2004 CTS owner since December 29, 2003. The day I saw it spinning on the platform at the Detroit Concept Car show, I knew I wanted it- the Crap-tera (Catera) was such a disappointment. The CTS was a good replacement for what was the biggest waste in Cadillac history.
I grew up loving cars and everything about them- so when it was time for me to move up from just a thing that got me from point A to point B, I was in the market for what seemed like a car that was totally out of my league. I had just graduated from college, and WOW- it was so nice to be making a decent amount of money. The CTS was so heavy on my brain- the smooth curves, the newly designed 3.6L engine that was standard in all 2004 6-Cyl. models.
So I did it- I went to the dealer, and told them I wanted a CTS, and I wasn't leaving until I got one. After about 3 days of dealing, I got it. Black, two-toned sport leather, XM satellite radio, OnStar equipped, 3.6L engine, about 260hp, sport shift equipped, and power everything.
Now- I was 21, and I doubt that I was really the demographic I was going for. But I love my car- I wouldn't trade it for any other car.
I chose the CTS because my dad works for the dealer, and has been a mechanic for as long as I can remember. He's the end all be all of cars in my book, and when he told me that the CTS was worth the money that you pay, I had to look into it. And what I found was an awesome car that offers luxury, and just enough sporty-ness to make me feel like I'm riding in a classy sports car.
It's got some punch for an extremely heavy 6cyl. (it's over 3,500lbs). I'm usually the first one off the line at a red light- although I don't really know how much that has to do with the car or the way I drive.
There's so much room in the front and back seat. About 40 cubic feet for your head in the front and back. About that much for the legs and feet in the front and back too! That means it doesn't matter how big you are, you'll still get a comfortable ride in a CTS. I'm not so big (a whopping 5'2") so it's not an issue for me- but I know some large people that fit just right in my car, and they have no complaints about the amount of room they have. But for us short people, it's sometimes hard to find a car that we don't have to sit on top of the steering wheel to reach the pedals. The CTS has seats that adjust 7 different ways. So no matter how tall or short, you'll be able to get your feet to the pedals and not have to worry about being squished from any direction. And because of the many ways you can adjust your seat; it makes for such a comfortable ride.
It looks sharp, and isn't so bad on gas. With gas prices soaring, efficiency with fuel should be something that we all consider when buying a vehicle. I usually get about 26 to 28 mpg in the city and closer to 30mpg on the highway. Not so bad for a 6cyl. Even though the specs on the car say you'll only get 26mpg on the highway. I use mid-grade fuel- the car runs a lot better on 89 octane. It gets a little rough on 87 octane, even though with cheap-o gas it still runs smoother that most cars.
I love the way it looks- smooth lines, and sporty accents. It's a Caddy, and most people cringe when I tell them I'm driving one. But when they see it, they would have to admit that they are impressed- it doesn't look like your stereotypical Cadillac. It's hot and sporty- it's not a boat, and there are no wings. I chose Black on Gray interior- it comes standard with leather...you actually have to special order cloth interior. That's class. My interior is the "sport" leather- meaning it's Gray with Black inlay. Nicely done Cadillac :) The dash is smooth, and not too complicated. There are no in-your-face colors lighting up the dash, and it's easy to read and see in the dark.
It's got all the bells and whistles- even though I have the base model. I didn't have any extra add ons- only because when I drove the "base" model I was so impressed I didn't really think I needed anything else added. I've got power windows, lock and seats, power mirrors, a rear-view mirror that automatically adjusts to light, auto head-lamps (which is good for us that forget to turn off the headlights), power lumbar support in both front seats, 6 speaker sound system (not the Bose upgrade but still sounds great), Satellite phone capability, OnStar, and the list goes on and on. I couldn't be happier with my CTS.
The only thing that I think they skimped on was the glove box. There's plenty of room everywhere else, but it was like the glove box was an after thought. I doubt that you could get much in there- I think I've got the manual that came with the car and a couple of napkins, and it's pretty full. But in the scheme of things, that's really the least of my worries.
My experience has just been off-the-charts awesome with my 2004 CTS. I'm so impressed that when my lease is up, I might keep it anyway. Or, buy a bigger better STS. Who knows- but for those of you that are toying with the idea of being a CTS owner, stop throwing the idea around and go out and buy the last car you'll ever own. Kudos to Cadillac for engineering the best car I've ever owned :)
