| teamsporttrac's Full Review: Canon PowerShot EOS 30D Digital Camera |
I'm not a professional photographer, nor am I an amateur. I have a pretty good idea of how to use a lot of functions on my SLR camera, even took some classes on it, but I still have some learning to do. That's what makes the Canon EOS 30D perfect for me.
My previous camera was the Canon EOS D60. Then came the introduction of the EOS 10D, then the EOS 20D. I remained content with the D60 for five years, now with the introduction of the 30D, I couldn't resist the upgrade!
This camera has incredibly fast response times. I'm no longer waiting on the camera to catch up with me before I can capture a specific shot. In fact you can turn on the camera and begin shooting immediately - there is no delay. Fast responsiveness is very important to me as most of my photography tends to be wildlife/animals. This camera has been very active to shoot with so far.
The 2.5" LCD screen is brilliant and makes it easy to review photos. Because the screen is larger than that to which I was previously accustomed, I placed a clear "screen protector" over it to help keep it scratch-free.
The buttons are well placed and easy to reach. They have a solid, sturdy feel to them as well. While the camera is comfortable to hold, I am considering purchasing the battery grip to provide more gripping area to the bottom of the camera.
Battery life is excellent with the BP-511A battery. I shot over 500 photos (outdoor, some with flash) this past weekend on one battery, and it still shows half battery life left.
Another thing that makes this camera score high with me is its versatility and complete set of features. Today I do not use/specify all of the different settings/parameters. But with continued learning and growth, these features will be there as needed. In other words, you don't have to be an advanced user to operate this camera. And if you do become an advanced user, this camera is likely to continue to meet your needs.
The only thing this camera is missing is integrated wireless.
