| tjash2010's Full Review: Motorola Razr V3c Multimedia Wireless Phone |
I get Verizon through my work for a huge discount so I use both Cingular and Verizon. Verizon suffers in the phones area. They rarely have any hip or trendy phones out there. Even though I am business oriented, I always like a cool cell phone, like most guys do. But then came the V3c, I think Verizon did great with this phone in most aspects.
I was surprised Verizon would carry such a phone after seeing there history of recent phones, but I guess it was bound to happen after the original success of the V3. Verizon is all about making profit and they figured that this phone would bring in great profit, and they were correct. From everything I have read the V3c is the best selling phone for Verizon EVER. This phone does beat out the original V3 in some aspects but not alot. For one it has a 1.2mp camera compared to the V3's VGA camera. Sure there is SMALL difference, but cell phones arent made to take just pictures, so quality isnt a big issue, as long as it takes decent photos. It also has the updated Gun Metal grey color, which I think it much better then the original Silver. Lastly it has 3g which I guess is a plus for some people, but my area doesnt support it, so not for me.
This phone is alot very confortable to talk on. It fits the form of my face perfectly. It feels so much better then any other phoen I have ever owned. The design is great. I hardly ever remeber I have it. Its very thing and it has a nice big display along with a decent sized external color display.
Some things which are notable are if your area doesnt support 3g you are going to have horrible battery life. My area is just on the border line so it constantly switched between 3g and 1x. The battery life was only about 4-5 hours, I would be sitting there at work trying to talk to a family member or a customer after a half days work and it would start beeping very loud, which is the low battery indicator so I would have to plug it in and be seated next to the outlet to talk on it, not very convient at all. I learned how to fix this after about 3 weeks. You have edit some settings to disable the EDGE which can be found on some modder sites. That improved my battery life to 2 days without a charge, but if motorola figures out they wont honor your warranty. The other cons are they disable OBEX, so you must use a cable to transfer ringtones and images and such, instead of taking advantage of the bluetooth, which only supports handsfree headsets. Another con is that it doesnt include a music player or expandable memory slot, which the new and improved V3i includes, really a bummer.
I payed 355.00 New from ebay for this phone 2 months after it was realeased. It was 200.00 with new 2yr activation through verizon. You could buy 2.25 Oringal Razrs for that much, they normally sell for under 150 and Cingular offers them sometimes for 49.99 when the have their promotions but the retail is 99.99 with new 2yr contract. But now Verizon is down to 129.99 normally with the exceptions of promotions, which I guess is a decent price. Sure there are a few upgrades but not enought in my opionion to make it 200.00 more. But I guess its the price to gotta pay for being on the Verizon network and having to use the CDMA technology. Now the offer it fairly cheap when the have promotions
If you can live without OBEX, a Music player and expandable memory then this is the phone for you!!! Verizon made the right choice by carrying this phone, now if verizon could just carry on with this trend.
