| badbonz0007's Full Review: Clorox Bleach Pen |
My wife and I purchased the Clorox bleach pen for several reasons. One of which was the fact that we wanted to try it out on the kitchen floor. On the grout lines, you can't just put it on the stain and expect it to work miracles. You have to scrub it back and forth several times and let it sit for a little bit. The bleach pen is very handy for those small jobs. If you have a bigger job you might have to invest in a larger amount of bleach to use on those lines. It is very light weight and fits in the palm of your hand very nicely.
We also tried it on garments and believe it or not it does get the stain out. It will leave a discolored spot after you wash the garment. This I noticed on just some of the garments not on all garments. For instance, we tried it on a bright red sweater and it did a very good job. But, that garment was a thick sweater. We also tried it on a thin garment such as a shirt, and we noticed that there was a little discolored spot after we washed it.
There were some other shirts that it did just fine on. Your best bet is to use it on whites. I noticed that it is not compatible with those very delicate fabrics. With this being made by Clorox it does have a bleach smell. This is not really a bad smell, only if you stick it right inside of your nose will it bother you. Remember this is very toxic, so it is dangerous to your health. It is also does not have child proof caps, so if your child gets a hold of it get the child to the emergency room.
Some of these pens come equipped with a handy dandy magnetic pen holder, that you can stick on just about anything. The one that we bought was a two ounce pen, and it had a fine tip on one end and a broad scrubber on the other end. This did very well on those wider grout lines.
To use this properly all you need to do is shake it well before you first start. Then as you are using it squeeze it gently and let the juices flow. Always replace the cap after every use, and never have both ends off at the same time. If you do you will have a little bit of a mess. If you do use this on garments wash the garment right away. Do not let it dry, because the bleach will not get the stain out then. Plus try and wash the garments with other white clothes and in addition to the bleach pen you will have the bleach in the water that will do a job together.
They do not recommend that you use this on colored garments but, I just wanted to see if it would work. It does work on some of them, but you are taking a chance that you might have to throw them away. They also recommend that you do not use it on anything silver. The company does recommend that you do not mix this with any other cleaning because that will emit other gases which will cause you troubles.
With this product being only four dollars it is not worth taking a chance on ruining any of your clothes. You can buy this at just about any place that sells bathroom supplies. I can only recommend this to people that will be very careful and know that this is very toxic and the caps are not child proof. If you do not tighten them very tight they just spin off real easy. I would feel very terrible that if I highly recommend this and found out later that a little child would have gotten hurt. They do not say if there is any kind of warranty on this product but, they do give you a 1-800 number to call if you have any questions about the chemicals that are in it. This does contain surfactants and hypochlorite bleach which are very hazardous to your health.
