zero = zero connectivity.

Written: May 18 '01
Pros:Free.
Cons:Almost zero connectivity; Ad bar and startup popup window is annoying.
The Bottom Line: Go with other alternatives if you live in bigger cities.

It's true that they're free. I used to use MSN DSL but then Northpoint went bankrupt. So I used NetZero for a while before changing to Cable modem.

I like in Wisconsin Waukesha, near Milwaukee. I chose the dialup numbers that suits me and all that I got was the "try again later" message every time. So virtually I cannot connect to it at all. I think 1 out of 20 times I succeeded connecting. Maybe you can argue that my area is not a big town/city. Tt's just useless if you offer your service but I cannot consume it.

After the connection, the newer version I believe has a popup window "trying to replace your browser" with a lot of functionalities like search engines, online directory... etc. Everytime I need to close it, but then it opens up again. Until I closed the other window it pops up it gives me this ad. bar. Which it does nothing at all but to keep prompting you with ads from their sponsors.

Another annoying thing is they shutdown your connection after like 20mins of idle time. It only gives you 30secs to respond to their shutdown message. If you cannot click the resume button, sorry, you need to dial again and especailly for my case, is NEVER gonna work.

So my friends, Zero truly means 0!
