participate in the w/o but I take off the hat I never had to salute those of you who had the cahones to do so. It is because of folks like you, civil disobedients, that we have the right to edit and delete once again.

All I did was r/r a couple, leave a comment or two and lost a trust because of it.

THANKS to all of you who participated.

"Hats matter less than the heads underneath them, anyway"

well said and very true!

I wouldn't worry too much. (Reply to this comment)

Epinions' management are the ones who should worry -- if they don't now deal with abuse, racist garbage, and the like, N.T. having so belatedly decided 'spite and hatred' were not okay!

Hats matter less than the heads underneath them, anyway.

Tolia and company addressed this during this evening's chat. They will do nothing for the time being. No black lists, so they say. They will rebuild trust.

"Some of the people who “Participated” took advantage of it for their own gain." -- I agree that some (not all) took things to extremes.

Pretty good commentary of the past five days. Thanks for the read and for sharing your perspective.

Unfortunatly I'm afraid that that's exactly what he meant-which will, unfortuantly set off some hurt feelings no matter what and is quite honestly-downright WRONG!

I'm sorry in advance that you might lose your hat :(

OH, I can assure you "hats will roll," Fridai -- I've already kissed one goodbye, I suspect it won't be long before I say goodbye to another for having had the temerity to participate in a little civil disobedience.

In case you didn't notice, Nirav alluded to it in his retraction notice, in which he said something to the effect of "Editor/Top Reviewer Selection will be delayed so that we can include recent content in our evaluations process" or something along that line.

Just what recent content do you think he meant?

Cheers.

I liked the idea you had for a w/o ect-and had the edit/delete thing remained as it was, I'd have gladly participated in it-

you are right I did expect to be *punished* so to speak so I shouldn't complain if I am-but hopefully it won't be too bad(30 lashes with a wet noodle maybe?)

"We may see a few changes in the Top Reviewer and Top Editor selection process."

that is sort of the kind of punishment I meant. Epinions might see fit to remove a few hats, maybe or maybe not right-that is a hard one to judge

thanks though, for stopping by

Sigh:( (Reply to this comment)

Well, you might look at it from the management's perspective. Who would you want on an advisory board: Someone that gets extremely upset (in their opinion) easily or someone that says unacceptable language in a public forum? Probably not.

You could also look at it from the perspective that you did expect to be punished. So you are punished. It wasn't unexpected. It is kinda like Epinions should have expected to have protests, they did have protests. It wasn't unexpected. Why complain if you had expected such consequences?

Sigh. Personally I didn't write an article but had another solution... I didn't think the nasty language was warranted. The issue is quickly getting compartmentalized. Epinions Blows Dog is the actual thing. Seriously is that any way to talk to people? Gah.

On the other hand, I did egg y'all on a bit (and probably am *not* on Epinions happy list myself)... Yeah I know people get frustrated with things and do things in response but the consequences of those actions kinda need to be accepted.

well-said, and I agree with you.

Much as I found some of the EBD (no offense though to anyone who participated) pieces going over the edge of tolerance, I still struggle to understand them, mainly because, in anger, many of us do things that we later regret...

It's pretty amazing that we eventually look back on this "disaster" and wonder quietly to ourselves: I can't believe I actually wrote that! I guess control is difficult when under strain, but at the end of the day, we all have to know where to draw the line and stop before it's too late.

Great review!
