Couldn't (nor wouldn't) have said it better (nor differently) myself, Bryan. You wrapped up all the sentiments of those of us who've seen "the best" and have "stood the test of time", neatly and succinctly. Bravo!
Congrats on your 500th. It's just as well-written and useful as your 499th, I/S-paying one, in my book. Sometimes you don't get what you paid. This beautifully scribed editorial is proof. Here's to (at least) 500 more! Take care,

I'm glad to hear that you are not leaving Epinions. I like the variety of subjects that you write on and your willingness to share your experience with Epinions. I too, plan to stay, despite a small following and little income. Where else can you get your writing published, and meet so many fantastic people? Sheila

Your editorial could not have been more fair, frank or honest.
I, too, hope that the Epinionators will get back to work. I think, in time, Epinions could still be something pretty big. The concept is certainly an intriguing one.

If it wasn't for the fact that I can write my reviews at work, then I probably would curtail my review submissions quite a bit. It wouldn't be worth the time and effort anymore. But since I can write them and post them at work, I don't give up any of my free time. It's almost like I'm getting paid, by my employer, to write Epinions.
I might slow down my pace of entering new reviews, but I don't plan on quitting completely.

I can't justify the amount of time I used to spend here for $75 a month. I just spent 4 hours working and made that. I have to spend 140 hours here to make that! Funny, we have a new computer. I could write a review and it would probably get a "lot" of IS.. What is a lot? $100 for the entire year??? Is it worth it for me to spend a couple of hours, which it would take me since I know little about how to write computer reviews? I decided it isn't and put the info and warranty info back in the draw. Let someone else review it. I am on my way out...slowly, but surely..good luck. jo

on making 500. I do enjoy your reviews and always appreciate your reading mine.
I commend you on maintaining quality with such a large quantity of reviews. You are an asset to epinions.
I too have wondered if epinions would survive. I agree with you that it is quite an asset because it gives us the opportunity to see what people who actually use a product or service think of it. I have learned that the public often disagrees with professional reviewers, so it's good to see what the public thinks.

your experiences are interesting. You made a good chunk of change here. I'm happy that members like yourself will still earn fairly substantial income share starting tomorrow. As for myself, I earned about $15. a month total, less than $5. of that being IS. Starting tomorrow, I'll be lucky to earn $2. a month, as IS has been shrinking for the past couple months. I can see myself writing less (maybe just once a month) from now on. This site has been a fun place, and it's hard to give it up cold turkey! Congratulations on 500! Again, thanks for sharing your perspective.

...Bryan on your 500th review. It certainly has changed a lot around here in the past couple of years, but I still love writing/reading/rating. I wish that Epinions could still pay out like it once did, but understand as you said, that it is impossible.
I'm trying to decide what to write about for my #100.....sure took me a long time to get to it. :)

I'm with you. The money is secondary. I am still churning my way towards 100, but I have seen tremendous growth in my writing skills. Not only that, I have made some pretty good friends here too. Once again, congrats on the 500 Epinion mark, I look forward to the next 500.

I've only written one review on a Restaurant, but have earned quite a bit from it, despite it's low hit count...but the IS scheme is very ambiguous anyway, and we will never know how it works.
