I agree that the combo is not the easiest. But it sure beats going to the bank safe deposit box

Personally, I'd bolt down every safe under 500lbs empty weight. It's too easy for for just two bad guys to walk away with these things. Most people who buy these small safes are lulled into a false sense of security. Install them in a hidden location, don't tell ANYONE you have one, cut the box it came in into small pieces and bundle then up so none of the printing on the outside of the box shows.

Important documents are best kept in a safe deposit box in a bank. Keep only photocopies in your personal safe.

My neighbor's house burned down last year, and they lost all their important documents. They aren't even sure, for instance, how many savings bonds they had or how to replace medical-related documents. Better "safe" than sorry. -Dave
