Ohmigod... I only just read this comment! I was going to put 808080808 on the list, but didn't. And I love Manchester - it's a great place! Apart from Oasis...

Top Selection! (Reply to this comment)

I love baggy!...OK, maybe it was mainly made up of a bunch of (deservingly) one-hit wonders, but those "one-hits" could put a smile on your face!
I particularly liked you description of James as "eternally Mancunians"! I can just imagine the voice of God booming down from the heavens at Tim Booth:
God – “Tim, you shall be forever condemned to walk this earth…as a MANC!”
Tim – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Vital omission though – “Pacific State 707” by 808 State. You know it’s a classic!

Who is "in" Ian Brown, anyway? Satan? Jesus? John Lennon?
All of the above plus a few of the South Park kids.
Forgive me, the NyQuill has gotten to me.

Ian Brown is quite simply the epitomy of Baggy - he can't sing, he can't dance and yet... we love him!
Yup! Baggy is way more important the punk - People have only ever tried to emulate it since. Baggy created two offshoots which became the main focus of 90's music.
And the Shamen were gods and you know it!

And, while the music press is busy pondering on what the greatest Punk single ever was, The Cheese brings us that which REALLY matters...Baggy and icy Galhager-put downs!
Who is "in" Ian Brown, anyway? Satan? Jesus? John Lennon?
And no damnit, I do not love the Shamen.
