Pros:Located near freeway, IHOP, and Waffle House.
Cons:This place has BIG cleanliness issues.
The Bottom Line: Stay at a Super 8, La Quinta, or ANY other establishment. This place is not clean or comfortable!
Just last week I spent the most uncomfortable night I have ever spent in a hotel at Days Inn Orlando Airport. My flight got in late and rather than make a midnight trek to Fort Lauderdale my traveling companion and I decided to stay at a cheap hotel near the airport and leave the next morning. Fifty dollars a night was the cheapest thing I found on short notice and that was at the Days Inn. Since it is a national chain I thought this would be a good place to stay the night. Had I known then what I know now I would have driven all night to escape the awful memories created by staying there.
Don’t get me wrong I like cheap hotels. I especially like Super 8’s because they are clean and I don’t spend a lot of time in a hotel room anyway. It is simply a place to sleep while traveling. What I am picky about is cleanliness. I want a clean room. The carpets, the sheets and covers on the bed, and especially the bathrooms should be clean. This however was not the case with the Days Inn I visited in Orlando.
The Days Inn Orlando Airport is an older hotel. It has faded carpet walkways outside, doors with crackling and bent numbers, and truly awful furnishings inside the rooms. Upon inspection of the room I found that my bedspread was riddled with holes on the underside. The carpets were dirty and needed vacuuming, and there were hairs on the bathroom floor and in the tub. Considering the shape of the room I had visions of bugs and creepy crawlies hiding behind everything. This was the perfect setting for them! In addition to those complaints I have to mention that there wasn’t coffee, a breakfast, or any other perk for staying here. The ONLY thing that was good about this hotel was the location as it is located near the highway, an IHOP, and a 24-hour Waffle House.
While I admit I could have demanded another room or changed hotels I am not one to make a scene. Besides, judging by the outside of the building I highly doubt that had we moved to another room there would have been any improvement. So I suffered through a restless night’s sleep where I dreamt I flushed fifty dollars straight down the toilet, and left at first light. My advice to those traveling through Orlando – stay at the La Quinta located nearby or some other establishment! Don’t waste your time or your money on a hotel that doesn’t appear to be concerned with their customer's comfort.
