The Bottom Line Keep it personal during the review - be logical with your replies to comments.
Write about your personal experience, not general facts What good are tons of facts and figures people? Sure you need to put the important facts (price, performance (if applicable), etc. However, do not fire off facts and figures - if people wanted that they would go to the products website! Write about your personal experience with the product and cite specific examples (preferably humorous but true). Why do I say a humorous example? Because nobody likes reading a 5 page report about a situation that occurred with a product. Try to make it humorous and concise. Be Relaxed Do not make officious statements like "Your a fool to buy this" or "I feel sorry for you if you have this"; not only is it rude by it generally will get you a low rating. Additionally, people tend to leave less-than-desirable comments when you make such remarks. Page Breaks, Italics, and Bolding - the key to success Nobody wants to read an entire review without a page break - for many people they will simply not rate the comment or leave it with a "not helpful" rating. Similarly, a paper with no Italics or Bolding will seem very boring and often distinguishes the difference between a "helpful" and "very helpful" rating. I recommend you use bolding and italics to highlight important points or to start a new category in the review - I guarantee you your ratings will go up. Never Comment on what you do not know Quite simply: if you don't own it or haven't been there, don't review it! There are thousands of items you can review on epinions, one review on an item you do not know will not only get you a low rating, it will also put you on a web of distrust. If you only have moderate experience with a product be sure you state it! Lying, making up stories, or embellishing a review to make up for ignorance will look poorly. Keep Comments courteous Maintain yourself when replying to comments - if it is a genuine concern or suggestion then by all means take it into consideration! Trading insults via the comment section can turn disastrous when readers view the comments. Should you need to reply to a rude comment state facts and clarify your review - never insult, curse, or make threats. I have tried to make this review unique in that I could have wrote an opinion much like the other ones already posted. Please take my comments with a grain of salt - they are not the final word and I am definitely not trying to sound officious. |
