I've had my AmEx number memorized for about 30 years - even though it's been changed twice in that time. Even the new one is begging for mercy!

I can't wait to find this in an online store after I've had too much wine. It's bad enough my credit card number is memorized.

Thanks, Grannie! It's always good to hear from you.
I'm more of a white wine drinker - reds stain my teeth purple - so Penguinman is the one having the most fun with this one. But I love any kind of gadget. I just with this one had some moving parts! I must be related to Rube Goldberg.

Not sure of the formal appellation - something like Sierra - but I'm in Nevada Co., and El Dorado and Amador Cos. are just south of us. They've been likened to Napa 50 years ago and Sonoma 40 years ago. Lots of mom and pop wineries, and some surprisingly good wines...
The offer stands!

and about the only person I know who would come up with a wine tester (that works) before you buy a bottle. Kudo's to you for that.

C'mon down! We've got 28 wineries in our county, with two other major wine counties within an hour.
Hey! That sounds like a mini-vacation. What's your wine region called? We visited Napa and Sonoma last year, and the Central Coast in February. I'd love to hit a smaller wine region on our next trip.

Well, to avoid even more dirty looks, you might think about getting the pocket one and palming it when you use it, to avoid detection!
I also eat all the crackers. And when they have dark chocolate... I'm dead.

Dirty Looks (Reply to this comment)

I had never heard of this tool, but I think I must have one! I'm used to dirty looks in the tasting room, since I eat all the crackers. I can't help it.

Interesting! (Reply to this comment)

Its a great party trick,
I need to come to one of your parties! I've never seen one of these in action, but I've heard plenty of wine geek (the preferred term among enthusiasts, who reserve "snob" for folks who care more about what's on the label than in the glass) rumblings about how this gadget couldn't possibly do anything. I suppose the only way to know for sure would be a double-blind tasting at Margaret's house!

I don't think they have to worry about being out their jobs - after all, if this gadget shows that the wine will lay down nicely, more people may buy more of it. I know I've hesitated over some because I couldn't be sure.

what I call a fascinating gadget!
I could imagine sticking it into all kinds of drinks just to see what happens lol
I would think the professionals are a little nervous about the technology; after all if it works, they are out of a job.
Thanks for sharing; I enjoyed the read.
