FujiFilm has been a favorite of our family for a long
time. The reason really goes back to the silver crisis
in the 80's but that's just history to most of you
whippersnappers. However, I'll briefly bore, err, I
mean enlighten you with it.
Two brothers named Hunt (first names Handy and
Harman I believe) cornered the silver market in
1980. The price went from $10 an ounce to $50
in a matter of months. Film was a silver
intensive process. Fuji had a way of making
their film using much less silver than Kodak.
My husband knew this and loaded up on Fuji
stock. A few months later, we had a down
payment for our first house. So you can see
why Fuji is loved by us.
Note: It's my understanding that all film companies
reduced their silver use eventually after the price
crisis.
Old history, to be sure. Why do I keep buying FujiFilm
today? Most of my shots are outdoors. The Fujicolor
Superia 100 is a great quality outdoor film. It's
less expensive than other films (except Costco's
Kirkland) here in my area. Our colors always come
out lifelike when we use FujiColor 100.

Does nostalgia drive my purchase of FujiColor? Maybe
at first but the continued great performance and quality
earn my repeat business. I'm an amateur photographer.
Knowing little about the technical end of photography,
I am constantly complimented on my photos. I should
give some of the credit to the film maker, Fuji.
Bottom line on this film is if you're looking for a great
quality, inexpensive film for your outdoor shots, give
this FujiColor Superia 100 a try. You won't be dis-
appointed.
Hint for testing film: If you want to see which film
works best for you, take a box of crayons into the
conditions you usually shoot in - sunlight, haze,
flourescent lights, house lights with flash, etc.
Load the film you're testing and shoot the crayons
(after fanning them out a little bit). When the
photos come back, compare them to the crayons.
Look for sharp edges and true colors.
