Ramma Jamma - Tide HE

Written: May 23 '06 (Updated May 23 '06)
Pros:Cleans great! Fragrance Free!
Cons:The Container
The Bottom Line: Tide HE would get five stars from me if it were in a leak proof, non-messy proof bottle.

How we started using it
The high efficiency washing machines are supposedly the latest, greatest way to save energy and money in the laundry room and with your overall utility bill. We have a new Bosch front-loading washing machine and dryer and Tide HE (high efficiency) is what we first chose to with the new washer. (Mainly because that is the first one my husband saw)

The Bosch washer is suppose to only use HE products and if you do use something else, your washer could overflow with bubbles and water.

What Tide says
Tide HE is specially formulated to unlock the cleaning potential of high efficiency washers. Standard detergents can cause over-sudsing when less water is used, and using less detergent sacrifices cleaning power. But Tide HE provides excellent cleaning with the right level of sudsing. Your clothes come out looking as good as your energy bills.

What I say
I absolutely love this product, because you can get it fragrance free. I love it because you only use I guess about 1/6 of the normal amount of detergent with regular washers and detergents. I HATE it because of the container. For some reason it seems to leak at the top or the spill/waste proof top leaks and there is a buildup that takes place. It is messy and it drives me crazy. The silly thing is that the product itself gets five stars - the product with the container gets two or three stars!

I know I could try and use the powder instead of the liquid, but I just can’t stand using powder - especially on dark clothes. You can also use the liquid for a pre-treating product for stains, which in Tide's case is GREAT at removing tough stains.

We even tried to switch to another HE liquid product. It had a fragrance which I didn’t really mind and the container worked perfectly! The kicker - my son broke out in a rash at around the time of the switch, so I have gone back to “Leaky Container Tide HE”!

Our clothes DO seem lighter and brighter with Tide products. Before switching to a high efficiency - front loading washer I had never used Tide, so I am very happy with the result of the product!

Just please, Tide, fix the messy container! And I promise it isn't the operator, because my husband is the neat freak and he can't seem to understand the seepage either!

Tide HE comes in these forms...
Tide HE Powder
Tide HE Liquid
Tide HE Clean Breeze Liquid
Tide HE

Directions:
Fill to line two for large loads (the whole measuring top), fill to line one for medium loads (just below line two)...Remember if you have a front loading washer, read it's directions for how much detergent to use.

The container says you should get 26 loads out of one container, but I find I get much more (I don't use even half of the measuring top full of the liquid).

A great product and a not so great container
