1997 Markham Napa Valley Petite Sirah: A Big, Beautiful, Voluptuous Red
by PeterLRuden | Nov 06 '01
1997 Markham Napa Valley Petite Sirah is a big, beautiful, full-bodied red wine with gobs of fruit and wonderful aromas. Drinks beautifully now; will cellar for another decade.

I tripped across something else today that made me think about Markham Winery.

I remember driving past this vineyard last year, while making a stop at the Charles Krug winery, but did not have an opportunity to stop (mud bath appointment later that afternoon in Calistoga).

Great review. Sounds fantastic, although a little pricey for me. I don't often pay more than $15 for a bottle of wine unless I am feeling generous and expansive. Beverages & More (bevmo.com) has the 1999 Markham Petite Sirah (which sounds like another outstanding vintage) for about $23.

Your wine selection, and a pot roast, sounds like an excellent Sunday afternoon dinner for me.

Cheers!
