Ok, so I kinda lied. I don't own a Philips 107S 17" Monitor. I do, however, own a Philips 107E 17" Monitor. The 107E is basically the export version of the 107S, so all of the features are exactly the same. My monitor was basically a steal. I purchased it on sale for $149.99 at my job (Staples), and at the time we had a $50 mail-in rebate running on it as well, so I ended up with a good brand-name 17" monitor for $99 + tax. No matter how you look at it, that deal cannot be beaten.
A few of the things I love about this monitor are its size, its maximum resolution, and its built in controls. My old 17" monitor, a KDS KD-710 was a big, bulky unit. Carrying it anywhere was a major pain. Since i'm a college student, and hence i move around a lot, I really value the Philips monitor's (realitively) light weight, and its conveinient easy-to-carry shape.
The Philips 107S, and the 107E consequently, have a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024. This was almost unheard of a few years ago when I purchased my first 17" monitor, which had a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768. The higher resolution makes it much easier for me to read webpages, even though text is smaller. The higher resolution also makes it easier to do graphics and webdesign work, and allows my inner gamer a better visual gaming experience.
The built in electronic menu on the 107S/107E is absolutely wonderful. Adjusting horizontal and vertical sizes couldn't be easier. Also helpful is the built-in deguassing function, which is a lifesaver. Anyone who has ever had to get their monitors deguassed at upwards of $100 can attest to the convienience of having something like that built in.
Overall, the Philips 107S and 107E are not only easy to use, but are good quality, which is far more important. I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone who needed a new one. Not only is it excellent quality wise, but it's a big money saver as well.
