Shopping Cosmetic Lines: To be Faithful, or To Play Around?

What is this category FOR, anyway? I'm not sure, so I'm using it for whatever comes to mind.

Glad to see you back. In any event, I guess I'm not faithful. My shelves are lined with Cetaphil cleanser for oily skin, Clinique's Mild Clarification Lotion, Clinique's Moisture Surge, Alpha Hydrox, philosophy's Hope in a Bottle, and a dozen sunscreens (Lancome's Vinefit, Eucerin for sensitive skin, Shisido's Ultra Light Lotion, Chanel's Conscience and now Ombrelle.)

Thanks again for the Ombrelle recommendation, it's a fabulous addition to my purse!

best,
Juls

I wonder this stuff myself, and I teach full-time :o)

I like to play around with cosmetics a lot (though I am switching to the same foundation and powder as I feel they are "similar" products and work better when designed similiarly) -

but I don't like to mess much with my face products -

I mainly use Clinique, as its the first counter product to really help me notice the most change after using it -- and I really like Clinique, though there have been a few things concerning me -

after stressing and obsessing about it, I finally got SMART and passed some emails to some of my fellow Beauty Epinioners here - and asked for tips -

a wonderful gal, zzJulia, suggested me redness on my cheeks might be the alcohol in the Clinique toner that, for whatever reason, did not seem to bother me much last year when I began using it, but does this winter - I stopped using the toner, and VIOLA! - I now have choices between a milder Clinique toner, or choosing Mary Kay's somewhat cheaper version - so I will play with both and see what works best!

I have loyalty to lines that have "loved" me, and am glad that you mentioned that. Generally the Clinique counters have been MORE than helpful, and let you play with stuff - and a friend is a Mary Kay rep so I get free samples of whatever I want :o)

Thanks for this review!
