Pros: Inexpensive and reasonable flexibility through cpanel applets.
Cons: Service is gone. Availability is terrible. Billing policies are not followed.
The Bottom Line: Avoid this host - if you have an account, do not renew and find a new host. If you were considering a new account, don't do it.

I have had an account with Affordablehost for about 4 years. It was inexpensive, flexible, and tech support was responsive - even available by phone if you had some patience. Then they changed ownership a year or so ago.
It wasn't for the better.
At first it was just occasional outages - say once a month for less than 8 hours. But in the month of May 2006, after just renewing for a year in March, my site was down for approximately 10 days split up over 3 extended outages. No useful explainations as to why, and no compensation, no apologies, in several cases - no acknowledgement at all!
Right now I am struggling to get them to prorate my refund like it says on their money-back-guarantee pages. But they claim that is only for 'new' customers, not people like me who have been with them for years. I am attempting to escalate - but while I am, I had to let people know to be very cautious. They are not what they used to be - and if you look online for opinions - make sure you only consider those who have posted in the past 6 months to a year.
