| BryRrose's Full Review: Drano Max Gel Clog Remover |
We have one drain in our home that consistently runs slow after a couple of months go by. We have used Drano Max Gel in the past with great success. This last go around I figured I would save a couple of dollars and use a generic brand. I read the back of the bottle and the generic brand seemed the same so I gave it a try.
I got home, followed the directions, waited about 30 minutes and nothing happened. The drain still ran slow and I felt as though I had just poured money down the drain. I went back to the store and bought Drano Max Gel. As usual I followed the instructions and the slow drain problem went away.
Drano Max Gel comes with a childproof top and the bottle is made of recycled plastic. The instructions state to pour half the bottle down the drain and wait 15 minutes and then flush with hot water, wait 30 minutes for drains that are clogged more. For severely clogged drains Drano recommends you pour the entire bottle down the drain and follow the above steps. Personally, I dont want the Drano product in my home longer than I have to so I use the entire bottle and throw it away.
When using the Drano in a small bathroom sink you must be careful when you initially pour the product in the sink. It is hard to manipulate the bottle into the sink drain area without causing a splash. I recommend slowly lowering the bottle and pouring a small amount at a time to prevent a back splash situation. The contents are dangerous and Drano is not the best product for your skin, carpet, or bathroom floor if you get back splash on them.
For the bathtub and shower you can slowly pour the product in the drain easier without splashing. Do not use a plunger after using this product because of back splash concerns. Also, do not use Drano Max Gel in the toilet. Drano has other products for toilets to clear slow draining toilets.
Drano is safe on plastic and metal pipes per the manufacturer. Drano recommends that the bottle be rinsed out and the cap put back on prior to the bottle being discarded. Also, do not mix Drano with any other products. Dangerous gasses can form if the product is mixed with other chemicals.
