Contrary to popular belief, I'm not a lazy person. The older women in my family think that I am "lazy" because I work from home. They view that as not doing anything... Not having a real job. Anyone who works from home can testify to the opposite of that. Working from home takes a lot of discipline and strength.
But, I digress.
A while back, I read a review written by the Doc about a website called Peapod.com. Back then, the site only delivered non-perishable items. I remember thinking that it was a good idea, but I could get all of the non-perishable items I needed at Drugstore.com. i tucked it in the filing cabinet in my mind and moved on with life.
I LOVE the filing cabinet in my mind....
While working to meet deadlines last week before leaving for a "vacation" this week, I noticed that I didn't have very many groceries in the house. I just didn't have the time to go grocery shopping. I remembered Peapod.com and visited the site.
Holy cow! I could go grocery shopping in the comfort of my own home! And, we're not just talking about non-perishable items, either. I was able to choose dairy products, meat, even ice cream as well as all of the non-perishable goods that Doc talked about in her review. I couldn't believe it.
Furthermore, the prices were lower than when I go shopping in the actual store! I didn't have to deal with anyone, no shopping cart, no hauling it to and from my car... It was FABULOUS!
To make things even sweeter, I was able to use my Stop 'n Shop frequent shoppers card to get more discounts. Peapod shoppers can use coupons, too, which is terrific. there is even an "aisle" for sales and specials that shoppers can check out.
The website is so organized, too, which is a huge bonus. You can browse aisles, shop by brand, or shop by product. I like browsing the aisles-- You click on the aisle you want and look at all of the products available. there is even a speed shopping option, where you can just type in your grocery list and the items appear in your cart.
I was expecting everything to show up at my door in a box. you can imagine my surprise when an actual PeaPod person rang my doorbell an hour before they were supposed to arrive, with all of my items in grocery bags. Furthermore, she helped me carry them inside and put them on my kitchen table! Talk about service. I was really impressed. Believe me when I say that the $9.95 shipping fee is worth it.
Peapod also offers lots and lots of discounts to customers. For example, if you choose a certain delivery time, you can save $1. ALL coupons are accepted. They have web coupons. If you would like to save $10 on your first order, email me for info.
With gas prices the way they are now, shopping online at Peapod.com is completely worth it. If you place your order by 4:30 in the afternoon, you will receive your groceries the very next day. This is the busy woman's - or an agoraphobic's - dream come true!
