Pros: Easy to use, stays clean, durable
Cons: expensive, in a high traffic area it may open when someone walks by
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend the itouchless garbage can. Once you have one you won't want to live without it. It makes a great gift as well

I received this garbage can as a birthday gift from my father. At first I thought... "what a strange gift" But once I put it together and used it, I was hooked. All you have to do is hold your hands above the can and it opens. When you are done it closes. Because you never have to touch the can it stays much cleaner.
The can operates with 4 C batteries. I have had mine for a year and a half and have not had to replace them yet. It also has an on and off switch on the back if you want to turn it off for cleaning or changing the bag. On the front it has a button that you can press to open the can and hold it open.
I always love it when someone asks where the garbage can is. When I tell them they go there and look at it and just as they are about to ask me how to open...it opens up for them. Everyone is very impressed
I am so enthralled with this garbage can that I can not live without it. I noticed on their site that they have other sizes and I might purchase more for other rooms in the house.

Update March 2008 I just wanted to stop by and give an update. My garbage can is still operating beautifully. I finally had to replace the batteries for the first time a couple months ago. It was getting a little dirty so I took the top to the sink and gave it a good washing. Of course you can not submerge it but I washed it pretty well into the crevices where the door opens and closes. I figured if it did not make it I would buy a new one, but it did and now it is clean and good as new.
Someone asked what size bags it takes and it takes 13 gallon tall kitchen bags. I use the cinch sacks. It has a ring at the top to fold the bag over and put it in so you do not see the top of the bag but I threw that away because it was a pain in the neck and I felt that folding the bag over kept the top rim of the can clean. I do not mind it being folded over and showing a little because it is in my laundry room but if it bothers you, you can use the ring to secure the bag and that way when it is closed you can not see the bag at all.
Update May 2009 Just stopped by to let you know that my garbage can is still going strong. We just moved out of state, it sat in storage for 2 months while we were finding a house and when it was moved to the new house, it needed new batteries but worked absolutely great. I love it so much that I am going to get a smaller one for the laundry room.
