This was our first computer purchase together as a family. My husband and I had never owned our own computer. Granted I've worked on them for years, but never had my own. So when the bonus check came in out we went to go shopping. We found the HP Pavilion 6745C for a great price and it had many more options that we were glad to get.
This review isn't going to be full of numbers and so forth. I'm going to tell you about how it works and what it does. I've read several reviews and wanted to know more feeling about it. So I'm here to try and give my feelings on it.
The Hp does have 128 mb of Ram, what does this mean? Hmm, it means that it will get up and get if you are used to a 28 mb computer. There is a lot more speed and everything loads so much faster. I was personally amazed at the speed of how my programs loaded and even worked better.
For online use this is a great computer. With the 28MB that we had borrowed from my brother-in-law, I couldn't run AOL and a surf window without expecting to take forever to load anything. Now, I can run the surf window and it will still run normally and quickly.
For games this has been so cool. There are several games loaded on here for 3D and normal games. It came with spider solitare, pinball, minesweeper, hearts, regular solitare, and several internet games. Also, if you load games in they run fast and are fun to play. We are addicted to You don't know Jack and these are running extremely well and don't skip. Also, The Sims is a game played frequently and it is also loaded and well running.
The computer comes loaded with software. Windows ME is the running system and it isn't much different than any other Windows. I feel they all do basically the same thing for me.
All in all we are very happy with the hp and it's customer service. We had to call them once and they were extremely helpful and answered all of our questions in a quick, consise and appropriate manner.
With the bundle, we received a hp deskjet 648C printer, V50 monitor, intenet ready keyboard, mouse and hard drive.
The printer works well, it is a color printer and uses 2 seperate cartridges for the printing. I've printed many things out and it's fast and does well with no smudging.
Monitor is 15", but only 13 is viewable. Yet, it looks great, you can see what you need to see and still not have to strain your eyes.
Keyboard is more than the standard keyboard. In addition to all the normal keys, they've added some new ones on here. You can set up the internet keys to log on for you, program your favorite shopping, sports, finance, search, chat and email sites into it. There is also the moon button which puts the computer in standby mode. Besides all of that you also have the cd/dvd/mp3 pad which is just like a cd set up with the volume, play, fast forward and rewind and stop, eject is there also.
Overall we are extremely happy with our purchase and haven't regretted it once. This computer has been easy to learn and was piece of cake to set up. We pulled it out of the box and plugged in the color coded wiring and we were good to go from there.
