Gobble-icious Turkey Treats!!
Nov 13 '01
The Bottom Line These Turkey Treats are fun, fast and easy to make. Let the kids help to make them. It's a fun way to share these homemade treats.
Now that Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching us and will be here next week, I'd like to share These Turkey-Time treats with you. They are easy to make, and your guests will really enjoy gobbling them up on Thanksgiving Day.
Last Thanksgiving my Grandson Dustin, and I made 40 of these Turkey treats for our local Nursing home, where my Mom at the time was staying. A few days before Thanksgiving, we both delivered them to the Nurses Station on the floor where my Mom was. They were very grateful and said that they would pass them out on Thanksgiving Day to the residents that could have candy. I found out later that the Activity Director of the Nursing Home wanted the directions, so that they could have the residents make them next year. She said that they are always looking for good ideas to help the residents have something to do. We were both delighted. Dustin is also helping me to make 28 more of these, so he can take them to school and share them with his Teacher and all of his classmates for Thanksgiving.
These are very simple to make and your children will enjoy helping you to make these for all your company on Thanksgiving day. These Turkey treats will also make cute place settings for each one of your Thanksgiving guests also.
Materials Needed:
1)---Two 10 inch squares of tan or brown netting.
2)---One 12 inch length of 1/4 inch gold or orange ribbon.
3)---One 5 inch length of brown chenille stem.
4)---Two 5mm wiggle eyes.
5)---Two Tbsp. of candy coated chocolate M@Ms pieces.
6)---Thick craft glue.
7)---Scissors and a ruler.
This will make one Turkey Treat.
Instructions:
Stack the 2 netting pieces together, alternating the corners.
Place the two Tbsp. of candy in the center of the netting.
Gather the netting just above the candy and wrap 1 inch of one end of the chenille stem around the the gathered netting to secure the candy.
Bend the remaining length of the chenille stem to form the neck.
For the head, measure ½ inch from the upper end of the stem and roll the end down to from a small tight circle.
Glue one eye on each side of the head.
Tie the ribbon into a 2½ inch wide bow, and cut the ribbon ends at a slant.
Glue the bow to the bottom of the Turkeys neck.
I love to make crafts for all Holidays, and the joy of crafting is best when it is shared. So let your children help you to make these Turkey treats, I'm sure that your company will enjoy them as much as you did making them. Enjoy!!!
Thanks For Reading, and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
May God Bless And Heal Our Country.
