Pros: relatively inexpensive, breakfast bar, clean
Cons: no free newspaper delivered although they say it's at the desk
The Bottom Line: For the price of most other inns and motels, Fairfield offered a decent, clean room with breakfast bar that offered more than muffins.

| maceyr's Full Review: Fairfield Inn |
We stayed for a night at the Fairfield Inn in Florence, Kentucky to be close to the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati International airport as we were taking an early flight the next morning. We chose the Fairfield because it looked new and because of the Marriott name, although we have never stayed at a Marriott (so far) and Fairfield did not disappoint.
The inn has a total of 135 rooms over 3 floors with the room on top floor accessible from inside the building. The two lower floor was accessible from the outside corridor, much like a standard lodging motel. The inn is secured via hole punched card keys which allows access to inside the building and the elevators. That was a big plus for security as Fairfield ensured that non guests could not access the inn from the elevators or the doors. One security disadvantage is for the occupants of the first floor as they are on the main floor and their only security is the room's door lock. Ample parking is available surrounding the inn like most lodging establishments. There is an outdoor heated pool but I did not use the facilities and will not comment.
We stayed on the second floor and I'm sure that the room was very similar to that of the first floor. The room is not I would describe as spacious but adequate. The Fairfield in Florence was very new and clean. Stepping inside, on my right, I see a comfortable sofa chair, two double beds with night table, AM/FM alarm clock, telephone with voice mail, message indicator and data port, directly across sat the cable TV with in room movies over the dresser. Nearby, by the window near the door is a table with a desk lamp. At the end of the room was the sink area with amenities such as soap and shampoo. Right next to the sink on its left was an open closet and on the right of the sink was the bathroom with tub and toilet. The room wasn't spacious but was large enough to hold some furniture. As the third floor was accessible from the stairs or elevator to the inside, and the length of the room came out over the corridor of the second floor, it was plain to see that the rooms are bigger and obviously pricier than that of the first and second floor.
The inn offers free local phone calls, free coffee and tea offered 24 hours a day and complimentary newspaper available at the lobby. The Fairfield in Florence did not have a fitness rooms although it is said to be available at most locations. There is a same-day laundry service offered but of course, at a fee. Ice machines are located at the lobby and on the third floor.
The inn is about 4 miles from the Cincinnati International Airport and 8 miles from downtown Cincinnati. Although it was relatively close to the airport, I did not remember hearing airplanes flying by.
The price of a room at Fairfield range from $49 to $79 and for the price, compared to La Quinta or other similar economy inns and accommodations is a steal considering the value offered. With free coffee and tea, newspapers, local phone calls not to mention the complimentary breakfast, La Quinta pales in comparison. But wait, the breakfast bar is the main attraction.
The breakfast bar at Fairfield Inn in Florence, Kentucky was an actual room maintained meticulously by a staff member paid to stock up the food and supplies and maintain the cleanliness of the area. It is opened from 7am to 10am (I think) and provided much more variety in food selection than La Quinta. There was cereals, bagels, oatmeal, a variety of different types of donuts, among others. I especially liked having an automatic toaster that continuously toasts bread via a conveyor like setting. Having an actual dining area was a bonus as was being able to make toasted bagels. And of course, the usual beverages like coffee, tea, milk, juice were available. The dining area also provided a cable TV, something that La Quinta did not provide. You could always eat at the lobby should the dining area be full.
Overall, I would highly recommend Fairfield Inn for the exceptional value it provides in accommodation. The complimentary paper, beverages, breakfast bar, and free local calls on top of an already low price as well as a frequent visitor membership is enough of an incentive for me to visit it again. Although the rooms aren't spacious, they were clean and adequate for me to re-visit it again.
