Bang For The Buck
Pros: The beginning credits...and when it ended. Phew!
Cons: Almost everything. Especially the "Meet the Fockers" take off.
The Bottom Line: I do NOT recommend you watch this movie. It is a big disappointment, so why not get something you will actually laugh at?
When I saw the trailers in theatres, I thought Date Movie looked interesting and good. It had the type of humor I like, and it was a parody movie, which I often find funny. I thought it might resemble Scary Movie, and since I liked that series, I was interested in it.
I heard that Date Movie got bad reviews from a lot of people, but I thought I would try it since you cant always rely on others. At first I was laughing, but by the first 15 minutes, I wasnt anymore.
The plot of Date Movie is very scattered and unorganized. Its about a lady (Alyson Hannigan) who wants to meet her Prince Charming. She finds him pretty soon, and the rest of the movie is spent making bad jokes at different films, like Meet the Fockers, and Hitch. I guess you could say there is no plot, especially during some parts of the movie which make no sense at all.
The acting in Date Movie was fine. There was nothing special about the acting, but it was good enough. It is your average acting, like what you would see in most films.
On the cover it showed Napoleon Dynamite (fake) and Owen Wilson from Wedding Crashers (fake) and it also said Carmen Elektra was in it. I was expecting them to have a bigger part than what they actually had. Napoleon Dynamite was just in the beginning, before the movie even started, and Owen Wilson just came in near the end and said one comment. As for Carmen Elektra, she had two minutes at the end that wasnt even important. So if you are getting excited about those characters starring in Date Movie, think again!
This film made hardly any sense at all. The beginning was unrelated to anything, but since it was random, I laughed at it. There were a couple other parts too which were the same. At one part she had a flashback where she was seeing red everywhere, and it didnt explain it the tiniest bit. A couple times they related to the narrator, and one character (the dad) said he saw something in the girls flashback. I didnt like that because it shouldnt jump around from being in the movie (and not hearing narrator) to being in the movie (and hearing the narrator).
For 30 minutes, Date Movie was taking off of Meet the Fockers. That was horrible, because every single event, every single move was exactly the same as the real movie itself! The only difference was how the people looked. Instead of the girl having blonde hair, she had orange
big deal. I know parodies are supposed to be similar, but it couldve had some creativity and not just replaced all the actors with different ones, still keeping the exact same script! It was boring!
My likes were; the beginning where the lady was dancing (during the credits), and when the two, fat men jumped against each other.
My dislikes; most of the jokes, the Kill Bill part where she was seeing red, the duration of the cat on the toilet, and definitely how the parody of Meet the Fockers was EXACTLY like the real movie Meet the Fockers!
