It's not the game played, but the time spent

The Bottom Line Family time spent together no matter what is being played.

The toy/game market is hotter than ever before. The toy stores probably has more games than what I can ever imagine.
The games of today range from something like scramble to girl talk, to who knows what else.
No matter what the game is that's being played, it's not the game that counts, but the time spent as a family and time shared with the children. I still have board games that my mom saved from my childhood that my family plays once a week for game night.
Game night is a night that's pre-planned with each child taking turns weekly choosing what game shall be played that week. As soon as the children get home from school homework is done. I immediately turn off the television, order pizza, and let the games begin. The games also depend on the time of the year for our game day. We can spend all day Saturday after having done chores playing Uno or Monopoly during the cold winter days or in late spring we go to the park with picnic basket in hand and play jump rope and kickball.
Once again it's not the game that counts, but the time that we spend with the kids that counts. With all the violence on the street, television, and in the world today, family time just reinforces to the children of today and tomorrow that they have a safe place at home with their parents and family.
